Re: UFC 101: Declaration (Aug. 8)

I declare this card to be a two fight card with not much else to offer... of course those cards tend to deliver some hell-a good fights.
Still the other 3 main card fights feel like Fight Night fights to me. Whomever wins those fights is still 2-4 fights away from fighting a contender, let alone fighting for a title.

I agree, the rest of the card is mighty weak. Maybe the UFC had to drop off a bit after a crazy 100 card.

Yeah, I won't be ordering this. I'll catch the two main fights on the net about an hour or so after the event is over.

Diego Sanchez is going to be ringside for the Kenny vs. Spenny tilt and will "get all up in the grill" of the winner.

This card and UFC 103 are looking lackluster right now.

BTW, hope you didn't mind me making this thread.

Funny that ex-Number 1 contender is now demoted to the undercard. (Thales Leites)

Grove vs. Almeida looks like an interesting fight to me though.

I think Dana is making a point to Leites by not even putting him on the main card.

Re: UFC 101: Declaration (Aug. 8th)

I don't think this card is as bad as most people are saying it is.

Penn vs. Florian is pretty highly anticipated and should be a great war because both are pretty viable fighters standing and on the ground.

Silva vs. Forrest is almost a superfight depending on your classification of that, you got one of the top 3 p4p guys in the world vs. a scrappy former LW champ who will put up a fight standing and on the ground, and won't pull a Leites and will make Silva work for it.

Sadollah's first fight, for me at least, has been pretty highly anticipated.

Grove was awesome in his last fight, and he can be an exciting fighter.

Neer vs. Pellegrino is a fight night fight, but these LWs always turn in pretty exciting fight, so my hopes are up.

I'm a big fan of McCrory, Nelson can fight, I've been waiting for Riddle to fight again for a while, loved the dude on TUF he's hysterical, Emerson always turns in good fights too.

I think its odd that the Silva bout isn't being given top billing over the Penn one. I'm really looing forward to both fights, but Silva-Griffin should be the headliner.

The Penn/Florian fight is a title fight and title fights always get top billing.

I think BJ is going to mop the octagon with Penn.

    I think it'll go like Fitch/GSP.

I think so too, you know so long as BJ doesn't 'overtrain' :p

not sure where Kenny will be the better fighter unless he's going to stick and move with jabs, kicks and occasional combos for 5 rounds and dec. out a win. That or if he's become an olympic level wrestler.

He can stick and move, but it won't be better than BJ's boxing ability.

I watched UFC 100 today and they referred to this event as UFC 101: Revolution. So I think the name has changed? On UFC.com it's still "Declaration".

I think that too, but Florian has had a long layoff to improve his striking a lot so it's not impossible, just unlikely.

Yeah, I pointed that out in the UFC 100 thread, speeds. I think Goldie just fucked up twice. Because they promoted it 3 times. Twice he called it Revolution, once he called it Declaration (the last time).
