Wow seems like those who ordered the PPV missed out as all of the UFC's bonuses were handed out to undercard fighters.. which is great to see as most likley their payouts were not nearly as good as the main card fighters. It's safe to say the bonuses were a lot more than what they were paid. At least the fight of the night was broadcast after the main event. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>After a very successful debut for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Canada, UFC president Dana White announced at the post fight press conference the winners of the show bonuses, including Fight of the Night, Knockout of the Night and Submission of the Night. Each of the award winners will receive a $75,000 bonus, which is the largest publicized bonus the UFC has given away to date. Jonathan Goulet and Kuniyoshi Hironaka each picked up a $75,000 bonus check for their respective performances in front of the 21,309 fans at the Bell Centre for the Fight of the Night. Goulet battled back after almost being finished earlier in the fight to pull out a gutsy win in the second round. Jason MacDonald settled his grudge with Joe Doerksen by knocking his fellow Canadian out and also got the Knockout of the Night bonus for his outstanding performance. Submission of the Night went to Demian Maia, whose unbelievable grappling skills earned him a victory over Ed Herman by triangle choke in their contest.</div> source mma weekly I'd still say Danzig vs Borcek was FOT, but it's a close call.
Pretty huge bonuses considering the Forbes article that said most fighters make over $100k for a full year. I wouldn't expect to see them so high for events in Las Vegas. The gate at UFC 83 was supposedly over $5M. Taking $225k out of that to give bonuses is peanuts.
Still it's great to see this happening considering most of these guys are fighting for less than 20 K to fight and 20 K to win. this is close to double what the winners would get paid normally. I was wondering, do you think fighters who finish a fight get a bonus too? I know you now get 5K on The Ultimate Fighter for finishing a fight and it looks like Burger King is helping to dole out 5K to each fighter for fighting too.
Its likely that they do. Dana has been known to hand out cheques to good performers without making everyone aware of it.
