UFC announces Bud Light Battle on the Bayou

The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bud Light will remain partners for a few more years.

Officials from both companies today announced a multi-year extension of their existing partnership, and the new deal includes one special promotional event annually, beginning with "UFC: Battle on the Bayou," which takes place Sept. 17 in New Orleans and airs on Spike TV.

"Bud Light's sponsorship deal with us a few years ago was a milestone for our organization and the sport," UFC President Dana White stated in today's release. "We couldn't be more excited about working with Bud Light and continuing our strong relationship."

As part of the renewal, Bud Light will continue to receive logo placement throughout all UFC events, including in the octagon, press conferences and weigh-ins, as well as integrations into the promotion's digital assets including UFC.com and the UFC's Facebook page.

Additionally, Bud Light will release a limited-edition UFC aluminum bottle, the first Bud Light bottle to sport the UFC logo.

"Bud Light's first three years with the UFC have focused largely on growing awareness and viewership of the sport at bars, restaurants and all the other places Bud Light is sold across the country," vice president Mark Wright stated. "Having brought the UFC to more people, we want to start bringing more people to the UFC by creating exclusive fan experiences only Bud Light and the UFC can deliver. 'Battle on the Bayou' is a first and unprecedented step in that direction."

Beginning May 2, fans can also enter a contest to win a three-day, two-night UFC fan experience in the Big Easy, courtesy of Bud Light.

The UFC hasn't held an event in Louisiana since UFC 37 in May 2002. That event took place in Bossier City. The UFC's most recent event in the Crescent City was UFC 27, which took place in September 2000.

UFC to host 'Battle on the Bayou'

The UFC will host an event this September in New Orleans, its first trip to the city in more than a decade.

Officials announced Wednesday that a special "Battle on the Bayou" card has been scheduled for Sept. 17, set to air on Spike TV.

The last UFC card to take place in New Orleans was UFC 27 in September 2000, before the creation of Zuffa, the promotion's current owner. The state of Louisiana has held six total UFC events, the most recent at Bossier City in May 2002.

The promotion also announced a multiyear extension with sponsor Bud Light and that "Battle on the Bayou" will be the first of a new promotional series under the partnership.
