UFC to introduce official fighter rankings system voted on by media

    90 members of the MMA media will be chosen to create comprehensive rankings for UFC fighters in the near future in an attempt to clarify title contention and positioning for fans and fighters alike. Dana White claims that the rankings will not affect how the UFC matches-up fighters, presumably because scheduling, injuries, and fighters declining certain opponents are a constant obstacle to designing formulaic eliminators.
