Any UFC fans here? For those who don't know; the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) is an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) organization based in North America. Owned by Zuffa LLC. The sport of MMA had two great competing companies: UFC and PRIDE FC. Recently, however, Zuffa purchased PRIDE FC from Dream Stage Entertainment, merging these two organizations in to one ownership. MMA is an intense combat sport, in which the athletes display skill, technique, strength, determination, will, and heart. There are many styles in MMA, such as Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Sambo, Karate, etc. In the older times, when the UFC first began, most competitors were only trained in one style. Now, in order to compete with the new breed of fighters, athletes train in several styles and learn to wield them well in combat. At first, back in 1993, The UFC had very few rules, coined as a NHB (No Holds Barred) event. Soon, UFC was banned from PPV and was slowly dying out. Nonetheless, Dana White (Current UFC President) and the Fertita brothers purchased the UFC between 2001-2002, made rules, received acceptance from state athletic commissions, and turned the sport's direction around. In 2005, the UFC aired their reality TV show, "The Ultimate Fighter" on Spike TV. This is what gained the UFC most of its popularity. After this, many began watching other UFC programs on Spike, such as UFC Unleashed. PPV sales were going rapidly, quickly surpassing those of Boxing. Now, in all of MMA the top fighters around the world regardless of weight class are Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria, Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Mauricio Shogun, Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson, Quinton Jackson, Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin, Anderson Silva, Nate Marquardt, Matt Hughes, Georges St-Pierre, Matt Serra, Takanori Gomi, and Sean Sherk. ahh. so who watches UFC or other MMA events?
