Ballah asked for someone to start a debate, hopefully this will get all the UFC haters over and we can have a debate. Well more of a one-sided debate, giving the edge to us UFC people.Mixed Martial Arts, or "Ultimate Fighting" as Bill O'Reilly likes to call it, has been in the U.S. since 1993. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) combines many different martial arts, including Karate, Boxing, Muy Thai Kickboxing, Jiu-Jutsu grappling, Submission/shoot fighting, wrestling (sambo, judo and freestyle), taekwondo and others. There are many MMA organizations, such as PRIDE FC, WFA, WEC, K1(more kickboxing than MMA) and the leading organization when it comes to popularity (in US), the UFC. Also, they have a league called the IFL (international fighting league) Basically, the have teams and each team as a veteran MMA fighter as coach, and 5 fighters. one for each weight class.Weight Classes:Lightweight: 145-155Welterweight: 155-175Middleweight: 175-185Light Heavyweight: 185-205Heavyweight: 205-265In a fight, the fighters start up standing up. Fighters can punch anywhere except groin, spine, or back of teh head, elbow (you can't elbow with the point of the elbow however) knee, kick, get a takedown and grapple, choke an opponent, get a submission (arm bar, rear naked choke, triangle choke, leg lock, achilles lock, kimura, upa, etc)fighters can win by:KO (when a fighter punches his opponent, and opponent can not get up and continue)Referee Stoppage aka TKO, technical knockout (when a fighter is beating the crap of his opponent, the referee stops the fight when the fighter getting his ass handed to him, is not intelligently defending himself)Decision (unanimous, majority, split, or draw)Submission (due to strikes, or any choke, or any actually submission like arm bar, etc)So, it's sanctioned by 20 out of 50 states. Should it be kept alive, and should it be sanctioned in all 50 states, including NY (Pataki F*ck HATES UFC) and Arizona (John McCain, senator, hates UFC. Btw, Ken Shamrock debated him about how UFC is safer than Boxing, and Ken OWNED him)Btw, MMA is safer than Boxing. For example, in the UFC, fighters are using very thin gloves, only big enough to protect the knuckles. In boxing, you use huge oz gloves. In Boxing, you're suposed to punch your opponent in to the head so hard, etc, for 12 rounds. UFC it's 3 rounds (5 for championship fights) The big gloves, when you punch hard, have an impact on the head. If you've ever been hit in the head with a big boxing glove, you know what I mean. It may not be as hard as a UFC glove, but at least you won't get Parkinsan's disease or a stroke. Once again, should the UFC be allowed to stay?
I dont care about it, So I dont care if it stays or goes. But I dont got a problem with it, But if your talking about fights I have to say Boxing is the best to watch. That other stuff is not really good cause none of them are Bruce Lee.
Boxers are not as exciting nor as talented as UFC fighters. All the UFC fighters nowdays can beat Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee lived in a different generation, sorry to say, even Royce Gracie would submit Lee.btw, what do you mean "that other stuff is not that good" is this why you left ufc-o? because you didn't know what you were talking about?
I enjoy watching boxing more but I have no problem with UFC whatsoever. It should be allowed everywhere.
Politicians are against because if they aren't it doesn't look good....it's all politicly correct bullsh**...I see nothing wrong with it at all.
I also see nothing wrong with it. I started getting into it after I saw Chuck Liddell beat the sh*t out of Tito Ortiz.
there's nothing wrong with it but boxing is betteryou just have to watch the right boxing fights..dont watch the post-tyson heavyweight division
I don't really watch it, but I agree with the boxing being more dangerous, mainly because I used to do boxing and want to make myself sound baddass...UFC could be improved in 4 steps...1.No refereee2.No holds barred3. All weapons allowed, (knives, Guns, Nails etc.)5.No winner util someone dies :happy0144:

Because they do exist.

It's not as face-paced, not as exciting, more rules, too many restrictions, and no ground game. The athletes are not more skilled nor as entertaining as MMA Fighters are.
Why would they allow weapons, you moron. It'd just turn into a shootout. Who the hell would bring a knife when their opponent could have an AK-47 for all they know.
A guy in my class does MMA, so if Is aid I was against it, he'd problay hand me my ass on a plate, so I like it lol

I am in the same boat as Blaze, I absolutely love UFC and ever other form of mixed martial arts. I like UFC the best over Pride and some of that other stuff, but that is because there are some differences. Pride is more about the grapples, holds and reversals and just really is not as brutal as UFC is. UFC is still alot about grappling, but there is more punching and harder punches than there is in the other forms of mixed martial arts that I see on TV. I don't really like the heavy weights however, as they tend to stay up and punch more than take each other down and punch. It's often sloppy punching while standing up to, so it's like a retarded boxing match more than a UFC fight, and really just is not as entertaining as the lighter weights are. The action is also not as fast and furious. Anyways, I really don't see any reason why Ultimate fighting and mixed martial arts should be outlawed. If people want to go into a cage or a ring and fight with each other, they should be allowed to go for it. It's not hurting anyone else, for these two to fight, and nobody is forced into fighting so it should completely be fine everywhere.
I luv UFC  Anyone seen BJ vs Matt ?? btwUFC > Pride, you see all those beaten fighters from UFC go to Pride.
