As the NFL and its players fight over money, the UFL is struggling to balance its books. The two-year-old United Football League owes creditors about $6 million, according to the Hartford Courant newspaper. The league’s cash flow problems stem from “an unexpected spike in worker’s compensation insurance during the season,” the newspaper reported. The change in insurance costs required a $7 million influx of cash and put the league behind in payments to creditors across the league, according to the paper. Founded by San Francisco investment banker Bill Hambrecht in 2009, the UFL has teams in Las Vegas, Hartford, Conn., Omaha, Sacramento and Virginia Beach, Va.
