    According to DFW.

The UFC doesn't release actual figures. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer usually gives his best estimate and everyone goes with that. Meltzer has been covering wrestling and MMA for decades and is usually pretty accurate.

1.5-million buys puts it behind UFC 100 by about 100k but 2nd all-time with a bullet.

Hopefully McGregor's selling power isn't too hurt by the loss. The UFC needs his business.

    @speeds

Why do you think so many fans hate conor even though he is fantastic for the other fighters and business?

Seems like a lot of the diehards complained about how fighters should get paid more, conor is helping that happen, and they still hate him.

His shit talking can be a little over the top, but I think most of it can clearly be seen as marketing and getting people talking about the fight. Watching videos and fan interactions, I think it's easy to see conor is actually a good guy. You hear it from Brendan Schaub and even Faber.

Do they hate the fact casuals are following the ufc now?

I just don't get it. He's entertaining and is bringing them back into the mainstream. What's not to like ?

I don't think I've seen much negativity towards McGregor. I'd say the general opinion of him is very positive. There is a lot of negativity directed at Rousey but that is a different kettle of fish.

    Both.

Before mostly dealing with hating his fans, cockyness, fighting smaller guys and ducking opponents or taking easy replacements.

After saying he made up way too many excuses for his loss, he didn't gas, he is only a decent fighter, he can only beat Aldo and fws because he becomes a skeleton before weigh ins, mcgregor is as big as gsp and Diaz and the move up in weight was false, he's never gonna win again etc etc

Ok. Well, TBQH, I haven't looked at the Sherdog forums in a few years. Ditto with the UG.

    r/mma is sublime by comparison.

I can understand McGregor being polarizing but he's been nothing but good for the sport.

Sherdog is a cesspool of haters. Same with Facebook comments for articles from bjpenn.com

    I'll check out r/mma.

Most the time I like reading your guys take though. Much more level headed without the trolling.

    Haters gonna hate.

I think ppl hate conor because he is so brash, he's this generations Tito Ortiz, he's going to rub ppl the wrong way. I don't like smug/arrogant stars in any sport. There's a fine line between confidence and being a dick and IMO Connor leaped over that line. The fact that his words and shennanigans are all an act and not genuine (like say the Diaz brothers) makes me personally respect him even less.

I can respect his abilities once the fight starts, doesn't mean I have to like or root for him though.

    That's understandable.

I have a buddy who drinks major haterade on conor. And it makes no sense. He used to love tito. He loves the Diaz brothers. He loves Anderson silva. He loves Luke Rockford. But he hates conor mcgregor. Won't even give him any respect for going 7-0 against the fws and says the Aldo KO was entirely luck and meant nothing.

But. Claims up and down Silva was screwed out of his knockout against bisping and that herb dean is an idiot.

Takes the fun out of it talking to irrational people like my friend.

I kinda see a 13 second KO of a guy who hadn't lost in 7 years as luck... luck that he landed it so early. All we know is that McGregor possesses the ability to KO Aldo and on that night he was the better fighter. It doesn't mean he's the better fighter, whereas a 3 round drubbing by McGregor would signify superior ability IMO. Does that make sense?
I would really love to see a rematch between those two, but I think Aldo needs one win to earn it too.

Totally makes sense and I agree with you. Aldo very well could be the better fighter, but he still lost. It happens. I'd love to see the rematch too.

When Diaz was named the opponent for mcgregor, he would say Diaz was the easy opponent for him.and he was a wuss for choosing him. The entire time I said Diaz is a bad match up because of his chin and bjj. Diaz was definitely the better fighter and probably is the better well rounded fighter of the two. But that doesn't make conor only "decent"

I agree. the only part I thought was 'easy' about diaz is that he's not a big 170 lber and he doesn't have big power. He wasn't going to one shot KO connor like some other explosive 170 ers could have done. IMO 170 is too big for connor.
