They finally showed up, those Hawks that people have been waiting to see all season. They ran up and down the floor, shared the basketball, scored in bunches and, for the most part, played the up-tempo style they plotted to use all season.

Sure, that fun-loving bunch went on a mental break late in the fourth quarter, their 20-point cushion seemingly intact, so the final margin wasn't what it might have been had they kept their focus from start to finish.

ut the Hawks did the damage when they needed to, controlling the tempo all game in their 86-78 win over Memphis Saturday night at Philips Arena.

It was the Hawks' third win in five games. They inched a step closer to .500 at 9-10.

"We've got to play like that every game, man," Josh Smith said. "You saw it, it's an exciting brand of basketball from a fan standpoint. And it's fun to play that way. Guys were flying around and getting easy baskets and making plays on defense. There's no better feeling than playing that style of basketball where you're pushing it every chance you get.
