My coworker (Sox fan) said the Sox and Phillies were close to finalizing a trade where the Sox get Cole Hamels and the Phillies get Victarino & 2 pretty highly rated prospects... A bunch of other coworkers (phillies fans) are very excited about the idea of getting Victarino back... But, I can't seem to find a link anywhere other than saying it isn't happening... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/03/quick-hits-swihart-bryant-mariners.html Has anyone heard about this?
Many teams made some some great moves during this off season & some just made moves for the sake of looking like they were actually doing something.
ummmmm ooook...??? That didn't answer my question... I'm wondering about this specific trade/non-trade
Sorry Steve, I think Dombrowski has made some solid moves this off season by adding Melky Cabrera, 1st baseman Adam LaRoche & closer David Robertson. And if he has a chance to add lefty Hamels to go with fellow lefty Chris Sale, they'd make one hell of a combination so I'd go for it. But to date I really haven't heard anything about it.
...the Hamels to Boston rumor has been going on for quite awhile now...but I have no idea why Philly would want to take Victorino, especially for $13 Mil.
Victorino back to Philly, Hammels to Boston, Amaro has few friends and less influences in Philly than he can live with. If I were a Philly Fan I would not be happy with Shane coming back, like the Yankees Philly needs a youth movement.
I was impressed with Shane in Philly, especially the first time I saw him gun a bullet to nail a potential score at the plate in his rookie season.....
