    Vargas hasn't won since 2005 and hasn't fought in the last three years so he may be a real option for Diaz. The 34-year old has a career record of 26-5 with 22 knockouts and last fought at 164-lbs, a weight Nick Diaz can make without much effort. Someone would have to be willing to promote the event (Showtime, likely) and guarantee the guys enough of a payday to make it worthwhile. I'm sure they are each looking at seven-figures for the fight and whether or not that is tenable is hard to predict.

    I wonder how DFW feels about this? and if there is anything he can actually do about because I am sure Diaz's contract with SF is non exclusive.

    No, he has fought between 158-174, much like Nick.
