Tibau has amassed something like 26 fights in the UFC since 2007 making him one of the true veterans on the roster. The fact that he was caught using EPO in Brazil in both in-competition and out-of-competition tests is even more interesting as most fans think the UFC can't be trusted to police itself. The two-year ban is the suggested minimum under the CSAC's new guidelines which, as far as I know, are only starting to become standardized. Tibau is 32 and still has fighting years left in him which is probably why he didn't test the USADA and the UFC with the appeal, potentially prolonging his suspension. For years Tibau was lauded for his inhuman ability to cut weight to make lightweight (reportedly as much as 40-lbs. in the month leading into a typical fight) and whether his metabolism slowed down or he was cheating all along it seemed a matter of time before that extreme regimen caught up to him.
