Update on James Southerland's status - Likely won't be coming for another year.

Mike Sullivan, a high school recruiting reporter for Scout.com, reported that Syracuse University recruit James Southerland will likely need another year of prep school.

The key word in the story is "likely.'' My sources tell me that the story's not wrong; just premature. Southerland is a 6-foot-6 wing from the Bronx who attended Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., last year. As of yet, he has not achieved a qualifying SAT score.

However, I'm told that Southerland is still awaiting the results of his final attempt at meeting the NCAA's requirements for freshman eligibility. If Southerland fails short of the NCAA's standard, he will return for another year at Notre Dame Prep.

So while the story is "likely'' to turn out to be true, it's still premature to state for a fact that Southerland will or will not be at Syracuse University in the fall.
