West Ham's Matthew Upson is confident he can secure a first-team role in the England squad for the World Cup, this summer.

Upson has since started 9 of England's last 17 games under Capello's management. England have only lost once when Upson has started -- the 1-0 loss to Brazil.

England's first-choice centreback (besides John Terry), Rio Ferdinand, has been plagued by injury this season and has only featured in 19 matches for United and is a doubt for the World Cup.
