According to Bert van Marwijk, the English are to blame for the tackle that put Stuart Holden out for six weeks. In this article from Mirror Football, Bert claims that the English refs allow too much physicality, which results in broken legs. An interesting, yet somewhat logical theory. I know a large part of the reason is the availability of the news, but I can think of many leg breaking tackles taking place in England (or perpetrated by England-based players), but not too many taking place in other countries.
