<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">One reason Kirk Hinrich was not among the 23 players selected Sunday for the USA Basketball men's national team program is that the Bulls guard pulled out early from the process.

''I had the meeting, and it went great,'' Hinrich said of his interview with Jerry Colangelo, the managing director of the team that will represent the United States in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

''It was fun just sitting there talking to him. Walking out of there, I told him I was interested. I ended up [having] my agent call him back and tell him I just didn't think I could do it. It just wasn't right for me at this point in time.

''I was really honored just to even be able to sit down with him. I respect Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball and all that. I'll be cheering for them hard, just because it's my country. It's just I felt like it's something I couldn't do.''

Hinrich said he shied from the time commitment necessary for the program.

''That was one of my big concerns,'' he said. ''The NBA season is really long. I just didn't feel it was right for me.''</div>

I think Hinrich was not selected beacause, of talent of the other guys this time.

Probably isn't good timing. Maybe in a couple of years when he stays consistent every game, which he is coming very close to and feels comfortable in the spotlight.

You read the article? Hinrich had his agent call Colangelo, and tell him he did not think he was going to be able to make the commitment. Had he kept his name in the running there is no question he would have been selected for the tryouts. I mean if you had your choice who would you pick Hinrich or Ridnour?

Didn't Allen Iverson not get asked for Try-outs?

I am beginning to think Kirk Hinrich has a bit of a social shyness about him.

    Yes, Iverson wasn't invited.

i was wondering why ridnour was invited and not hinrich, coz hinrich is significantly better, but oh well, whatever is right for kirk
i agree with sp23, i think its more important he develop some more consistency, especially with his jump shot
