I am sure that this topic has been brought up many times, but I want everyone's new opinion on it. Do you think that the NBA should change their All-Star Game format to USA vs. The Rest Of The World? It works nicely in hockey. What would you think the rosters would look like? Here are mine, considering Duncan an international player -

    International -

    C - Duncan/Ilgauskas
    PF - Gasol/(Milicic?)
    SF - Nowitzki/Kirilinko
    SG - Stojakovic/Ginobili
    PG - Nash/Parker

    USA -

    C - S.O'Neal/B.Wallace
    PF - Garnett/Webber/Brand
    SF - McGrady/Marion/Pierce
    SG - Bryant/Iverson
    PG - Kidd(assuming fans don't vote)/Francis

i dont like that idea. not all of those players deserve to be all stars. although they r good, players like parker and kirilinko shouldnt be all stars.

also, that makes a lot of players that deserve to be all stars off the team. with the east and the west, every1 has a fair oportunity.

your list is good, but Duncan would be playing on the US team because he's from the Virgin Islands.

I dont like thie idea of having the All-Star game be the USA vs. the World. There is definertly a stong eurpoean and african influence on the game, however I just dont see this game as very exciting. The US would completly dominate the game from start to finish. There just isnt enough good players on the world's team to even give them a chance. So for right now, I say no to having a US vs. the World All-Star Game.

i dont think the us would dominate as much as u think, especially wif duncan and ming the international team have size and a lot of fire power on the inside not to mention their outside shooting is far superior to the usa team. id say it would b close. im tipping the score to be 106-102 US win

I think that the international players would take it seriously and the American players wouldn't. Like in the World Championship games last year. If America's best can be beaten by one other countries best then why can't America's best be beaten by every other countries best?

last year, we didn't really have America's best out there. over half the guys you listed on that roster weren't on last years team

I think it would be a boring game to watch, and as dexter said, i would predict the US dominating as well. It worked well in Hockey because the teams were fairly even, but this year they switched it back to the conference battle. I would leave it how it is.

i disagree with franchise, as i said before i think it would b an awesome game due to the fact that the euro's would want to win and the us would really underestimate the euros. i think it would outdo all-star weekend!

i think it would be an interesting match up and great to watch, but i think if it were ever to take place then it should come on a seperate occasion to the allstar game. I like the way the all star weekend is formatted at the moment with the 3 pt shoot out, rookie vs sophmore game etc.. i think the all star game is fine the way it is.. but by all means have the international vs USA game, however it might be better if it were an off season thing or something like that.. and that way it would allow for more entertainment during the offseason, really when u think about it we only have maybe a charity match up or 2 on off season and we just focus on things like trades to keep us entertained..

i agree with spree in that we should keep the all-star weekend. but it would b tough to bring all those stars together in the offseason... and who would choose those teams?

Why do you think that? I think matchups between the best in the NBA would be far more better. Wouldn't you rather see a Kobe vs. McGrady matchup than a Kobe vs. Stojakovic matchup. Or in that case choose any position and compare. I think the ASG would outdo the WASG by a huge margin.

The ASG is not about winning, it's about high flying duks, crazy passes, and guys just having fun. If it was about winning then it would be a dumb game, it would be like a regular season game, only tougher, because you would have your best playing out there. So no I do not think that. Plus we deserve a game with guys "just messing around" every now and then. Everyone likes a little excitment in their sports.

I really didn't care, I wanted to see dunks, crazy passes and stuff. Guys pushing their athletic abilities to the max. Not guys spotting up and shooting threes.

well thats fair enough there was plenty of that in the first half... i jus think all that electrifying stuff should be left for the dunk comp.. if they were playing real defence all that stuff would never happen.. the all-star game isnt real basketball its just like a show at times. if u like and1 mix tapes then u will like the all-star game, id prefer the real deal
