Nice coaching Cal. Draws up a play for CDR and he drives in and fouls out Gibson after getting his first attempt blocked.

Jefferson got bailed out with that foul after giving great effort to grab the ball from a crappy Mayo pass. Dorsey fouls out

    Jefferson hits both 54-54 M

    Can't believe SC couldn't get a foul

Made the first, missed the second.

Rose drove the ball down, but gives the ball to Dozier for an 18 footer

    Over time

SC missed a lob on a set play out of a time out and then CDR comes down and finally scores a baset on his third try after getting his own miss twice

    SC makes FT's

    58-56 M 45 seconds

USC and Memphis are both terrible. They look like garbage on offense, this game is only entertaining because it's close. These teams can't hang with anyone legit, and don't tell me that it's just a flash in the pan that they're in OT and neither team has scored 60 points yet. It's symptomatic of the way they play. Unless they ugly up the game so badly that it's hardly even recognizable, they can't win. It's pathetic, really. Neither team even deserves to be ranked. They're schmucks...

Oh, wait, it's not Big 10 teams playing a good game that hasn't seen much scoring? That makes it a completely different case. What amazing defense played by the Tigers and Trojans tonight. What tough, hard-nosed teams. What an amazing exhibition of will and desire. Man, I love these teams.

See what I did there? Keep it in mind the next time you go to hate on the Big 10. And I mean no offense to anyone here, this post is more directed at the national media than anything. Listening to Dukie V, you'd think it's the best game he's ever seen. Yet all I heard about last season's OSU/UW game at Columbus last year was what garbage the Big 10 was and how they couldn't win a game that saw more than 140 combined points because of the ugly nature of how they played.

Anderson makes a nice driving layup. Mayo forces a shot and misses.

SC has to foul and Rose to the line for the one and one up 60-56

Misses, but Memphis gets the rebound and s fouled

    to the big ten talk

Memphis managed to pull out this ugly game 62-58

I wonder how many other teams will attempt to defend Memphis like SC did. The problem for other teams attempting it is that they don't have an OJ Mayo to lock down Rose on the perimeter.

Well, that's fine, but when you go outside of the one game contraints the big 10 still plays crap ball and 50-50 games, while Memphis and USC regularly put up waaaaay more points.

Every team has one bad game... Keep in mind that SC hung around and nearly knocked off Kansas. Memphis is well on their way towards a #1 seed and will likely be one of the highest scoring teams in the nation. Coach Cal is great, but he isnt that great of a coach. Tim Floyd dictated the tempo from the opening tip through out OT. Say what you want about it being a terrible game, both teams shot the ball poorly and OJ Mayo played some very good D, despite taking terrible shots on offense. SC is very young and as the season progresses I think you will take back some of the words about them from this game.

Memphis is good. You cant score 90 points in every game no matter what. They shot the ball poorly from the field and foul line and still found a way to win.
