Wisconsin-Milwaukee point guard Kaylon Williams was arrested early Wednesday morning in his hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on suspicion of drunken driving after he fled a traffic stop and was later taken down by a K-9 unit, authorities said.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin of the Cedar Rapids Police Department told The Associated Press that Williams drew the attention of officers after he was spotted driving without a front license plate, which is illegal in Iowa.

According to authorities, Williams pulled over, then drove off when the officer approached. He then missed a turn and went off the road, authorities said.

"Once he got up into the grass, the driver, which was later identified as Williams, got out of the vehicle and took off running on foot," Hamblin said.
