<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A day after he was fined $25,000 for what the NBA termed "publicly criticizing the officials," Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy reiterated that his comments were about the way big men in the NBA are officiated in general and not about the officials in last week's game against the Miami Heat.

"What I don't think was accurately conveyed was it wasn't a criticism of officials in Miami," Van Gundy said. "It's more of a critique of what big guys have to face every night, including Yao ( Ming). It really wasn't a criticism at all. It was more critique of what I thought could make the game better, more equitable for the inside players, including Yao. That being said, we have been told not to publicly say anything.

"They sensed it more that I was criticizing the officials in that game. I didn't see it that way. I don't think the tone of my comments was accurately portrayed. I was just talking about the game (of basketball) in general. They did what they thought was fair. Whether I thought it was justified or not doesn't matter."</div>

The NBA will probably fine him again. If you publicly say anything other than NBA basketball is perfect, the NBA front office goes into a hissy fit.
