    they should check ids in oregon and make washington staters pay sales tax there

    Cash? No sales tax. Credit/Debit card? Automatic sales tax deduction. (My guess is, the store systems could be programmed for that)

    Oregonians should pay the sales tax in Washington. I have to pay Oregons income tax.

    Fine, but when I go to costco and see a million washingtonians there, they should all pay the sales tax to washington.

    Im assuming you work in oregon in order for you to be paying oregon income tax while living in washington.

    I disagree. By shopping there, they are helping Costco pay the property tax on the land.

    That is irrelevant, we are helping the stores in washington pay the property tax too, so why should I pay sales tax?

    Besides, its against the law for washington residents to buy stuff in oregon without paying the use tax.

    Because all the people in Vancouver who work in Oregon are paying your income tax! :devilwink:

    True. Use Tax pisses me off! Especially when it comes to buying used cars.

    So Oregonians who drive in Washington arent hurting our roads? They dont pay our property tax.
    and doesnt the gas tax pay for road maintenance? I buy about half my gas in Oregon.

    And, again, tax considerations aside, what would I possibly want to purchase in Vancouver that I can't get a better deal on in the Portland metro? I don't see many folks crossing over the bridge to get their respective goods in Vancouver.
