Both are very impressive players as well as dunkers. I have been watching some old NBA footage of bith Carter, and Jordan, and I have no idea who is a better dunker. I'm leaning a bit towards Carter. He has done clearly unbelievable things. Who do you guys think is the better Jammer Vince Carter or Michael Jordan.

Vince Carter. I'm not bias on this at all, because I have over a thousands highlights of MJ and VC dunking, and by viewing them, I can say that Vince Carter is the better dunker. Of course, Vince will kill MJ now, but both in their prime. Even with VC right now versus an MJ at his dunking Prime, it would have Carter coming up on top. Carter has done all of Michael Jordans dunk, but he hasn't done many of Vinces dunks. As finesse as both are, Vince is more powerful. Vince Carter is the best NBA Dunker of All-Time.

It's hard to say, but I think Vince Carter is more amazing but not really a better dunker. What I'm trying to say is that Jordan could probably do all the dunks Vince did, but the way Vince does them would make them better dunks. But I know for sure the most amazing dunk I've ever seen is the VC olympic dunk over the 7' foot french guy.

If I had to chose between Vince and Jordan, I'd say tie.

Well if you're talking about when Carter was dunking, yes he was, their's some things Carter did that I don't think MJ ever did in terms of finnesse dunks. I couldn't imagine MJ going through the legs, and he's not one that has done many windmills. In game though MJ was brutal, so was Carter as a young'n though.

In Carter's rookie season he could throw down windmills and 360's with his eyes closed. I think MJ is a great dunker, he has more hang time and finesse then Vince but Vince has an edge in the power department, not to mention the level of difficulty with his dunks. Vince from 1999-2001 was simply the best dunker the league had seen SINCE MJ and Nique.

Both are great dunkers...but some of the dunks that both of them have done have been done by High School players. In his High School year...James White did a Free Throw Line Under the Leg dunk while Henry Becking did Carters Elbow in the Rim dunk and seemed like he did his 360 also. EVERYONE has done Free Throw Line Dunk though so thats really not that big of a deal for alot of dunkers.

I don't think James White made it in highschool, he lost his highschool dunk contest, but I know he did it in College, but I don't think he did it in highschool.

The thing is they're great dunkers and great basketball players, James White could be a second round pick in the NBA on just athelticism, but till he's able to create his own shots, and have a consistent jumpshot, he'll be nothing more than just a great dunker.

Vince had more power...stronger swing in his arms...and that's how he pulled off the reverse 360.

Now, on power and strength, damage, whatever you wanna call it...Vince wins that category. However, on creativity, flight, hangtime, body adjustments, etc...Jordan puts everyone to shame.

So overall, IMO...the better dunker? Michael Jordan.

Vince the best of all-times? Maybe. But I think 'Nique may have some claim to that title as well. [IMG]

All respect to Michael Jordan, but some of the things Vince Carter has done in a game are unmatched by anyone who has played.
I mean windmills on the break, off alley-oops, in traffic (not over anyone though), that pin back alley-oop against the LA Clippers I'm sure people know what I am talking about, that was sick!
The countless posters, endless arrays of spectacular 360 dunks etc .........

Possibly the best dunker to ever play in the NBA.

    Better dunker: Vince Carter

Though I think Ricky Davis under the legs jam on the fast break is up there in contention for best in game dunk.

Vince. simply because he could throw it down with more power than MJ, even though MJ had better creativity and hangtime.

on the subject of dunking, dont forget the most efficient dunker these past 5 years
AKA a certain someone named Shaquille O'neal [IMG]

I think not. Most def. not.

The thing with Jordan is that he had more hang-time than Carter, and he could simply hang in the air longer. Vince Carter on the other hand, had more elevation. And just for the record, I think having both of these factors all at once is equivalent to the best dunker of all-time. That being said, I think Wilkins had a combination of both. Wilkins wasn?t as good as Carter or Jordan in their respected specialties, however he did have both. But as far as it goes to see who the better dunker between Jordan and Carter, I say that it all depends on the person taste. I for one think it?s a tie.

Both in the primes, with pain in my heart, I have to give it to Vince. That 360 windmill and 180 windmill from underneath the 'Board were just crazy. With all respect to MJ, but he would never be able to pull that off. Jordan was good in posterizing people, but in a dunk-competitional-way : Vince.

I think the better dunker would be Jordan, but the more revolutionary dunker was Carter. See MJ throws down the rock the cradle better than anyone to ever live, and when he stuck his tongue out while dunking it was over. But why do I say VC was more revolutionary? He did dunks no one had ever seen before, he started trends. But notice he started trends, so other people were catching on and could do what he did with just as much ease.Like the elbow in the rim; nobody had done that before him, but now everyone is doing it, and it's almost second nature to watch a dunk contest and see someone do it. Also you almost never saw anyone teven attempt to throw down a 360 cuffed dunk but he did it, and now like the elbow in the rim, it is second nature. But i have to say that IMO the best dunker of all time is David Thompson. The way he could stay in the air, and finish with flarw was just mind boggeling. Every person to ever dunk should pay homage to him, for he was one of if not the first real high flyer.

This is really weird! My friend and I were just talking about this 2 hours ago! Anyways, he said MJ and I said Carter. Vince Carter has done so many impressive things on the court and in Slam Dunk Contests. My friend kept bringing up MJ's dunk from the free throw line. My responce was that it is very impressive but not creative. Dr. J did it before him so it wasen't like he made it up. I just think Carter is the better dunker.
