5.7-million people tuned-in to watch Velasquez vs. dos Santos on FOX and at one point in the show 8.8-million were watching, presumably during the brief fight itself. 8.8-million peak and 5.7-million average are both record-setters for MMA on television, besting Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson (6.5/4.3) and Quinton Jackson vs. Dan Henderson (5.9/4.7). The most important rating for FOX, the UFC, and advertisers, was the 4.3 score the show pulled with males 18-35 which is the most coveted demographic.
Re: Velasquez vs. dos Santos broke previous records, pulled 8.8-million viewers at pe TV Globo, the biggest channel in Brazil on which Velasquez vs. dos Santos was broadcast, claims to have pulled 22-million viewers for the event (52%). So of all the (legal) televisions in the country that were on, more than half were watching the fight. Epic.
