(SCROLL DOWN TO THE END TO FIND THE MOST RECENT VIDEO POSTED) The Nuggets are 4-8 without Carmelo Anthony, despite Allen Iverson playing in 11 of those 12 games. Of those 12 games, 10 were home games being burned, representing almost 1/4 of the entire regular season home schedule for the Nuggets. The obvious conclusion is that Anthony is a necessity for the Nuggets, not a luxury. And those thinking that LeBron is better than Melo will be able to continue to think that, because Melo will be unable to play against the Cavaliers this Friday Jan. 16 in Denver. The weather is miserable, Nuggets fans are miserable, A.I. is fairly miserable, G. Karl is miserable, pretty much everyone is miserable. So I'm not waiting any longer to post a Melo video. When he returns Nuggets folks are going to get alot less miserable. For now, we'll have to settle for the memories. The first video shows some of Melo's greatest plays.... Some Great Plays
<div class="quote_poster">MrJ Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It started off good, but I can't watch it because it's too slow. Can't wait around...</div> Yeah, it is kind of slow compared to many other highlight videos, but the speed seems appropriate for a Sunday and for a team where fans are depressed to one extent or another. BTW, I can not freaking believe the Chargers lost to the Patriots. This is one huge reason why true sports fans should prefer basketball over football, because in basketball it is best of 7 games to advance in the playoffs and the better team wins about 96% of the time. In football, the better team wins maybe 78% of the time. Maybe. New England has had incredible luck in the playoffs over the years since they won their first Super Bowl with Brady. Incredibly, Marty Schottenheimer's inability to win the big game jinx continues. I thought sure I would see the Chargers in the Super Bowl. Well, like I said, it is a reason to be liking b-ball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Umair:Melo and Iverson with Camby/J.R./Nene. Scary.</div> Yeah, but Nene is restricted to 1 quarter a game by his knee problems. Najera pours some cold water on what could otherwise be an incredible lineup. But even with Najera, it is still supposed to be a blazing run and gun lineup, with Camby holding down the fort on rebounding and defense.
Melo's stats are up almost across the board from last year (and from the first three years as a whole) as he gradually gets even better. How does Melo rank among the top ten scorers in the League? Among the top 10 scorers in the NBA, here is where Anthony ranks at this point in the season: PPG: 1st out of 10 FG%: 2nd out of 10 (Yao Ming is #1) 3PT%: 9th out of 10 (Paul Pierce is #1) RPG: 4th out of 10 (Yao Ming is #1) APG: 7th out of 10 (Dwyane Wade is #1) SPG: 3-way tie for 4th out of 10 (Allen Iverson is #1) BPG: 3-way tie for 4th out of 10 (Yao Ming is #1) TOPG: 4-way tie for 5th out of 10 (Michael Redd is #1) PFPG: 7th out of 10 (Michael Redd is #1) 7 out of 10 of the top 10 scorers are guards, whereas, of course, Melo plays SF. So the Assist comparison is not even up because there are 7 guards in the group. Even so, it should be noted that Melo's assists are up by a whopping 50% from all 3 of the previous seasons, going from 2.6-2.7 in his first 3 years to 4.1 APG this year. Among the 3 non-guards, LeBron James (6.1) is 1st, Melo (4.1) is 2nd, and Yao Ming (2.1) is 3rd in assists per game. I will compare Anthony with other small forwards and forwards in general in the future. So how could Melo improve with respect to other superstars? In order of importance: 1. 3-point shooting 2. Avoiding fouls (The Nuggets are frequently going to lose games when Melo has foul trouble.) 3. Cutting down a little on turnovers So in summary Melo is not just a scoring show, but he generally ranks in the middle of the pack of the top 10 scorers on other indicators of basketball performance. But everyone was once a rookie..... Once a Rookie

When I first discovered and joined Justbball, in November, Carmelo Anthony was player of the week of the Western Conference for two weeks straight. The way things are going, the Nuggets may need Melo to be about that good again. Melo was the best in the West in late November & early December And here is the game when the Nuggets beat the Heat in early December: Melo & the Nuggets Defeat the Defending Champions
Here is the first decent youtube video on Melo in a while. It features scoring highlights and interview snips. He says that the key to winning is for the "team chemistry to be tight". Syracuse University had this when they won the National Championship during Melo's one year there. Can one player alone, or else the coach, achieve good chemistry? No, it's too complicated, but a player or a coach can contribute alot toward achieving it. The Nuggets chemistry is not yet great but it is better than it was a few weeks ago and it is moving in the right direction. Melo Highlights I could not resist this short dunk competition video. Thanks to 19 year old Arthur, his Sony Vegas 6.0 movie editor, and Youtube, Melo fans have a treat to watch in the form of the four part "Carmelo Anthony-Rising Empire" Series. Arthur's choice of title shows that his wisdom goes beyond his video editing skills, because there is indeed a rising empire in Denver, should the Nuggets keep Carmelo Anthony and Iverson for the next few years, and should they find the right combination of coaches and strategies to use them in a smart way without overusing them, as they foolishly did this past season. As with the most successful characters in the world of fictional empires, in Melo's rising empire, his faith in his friends will always be with him, in bad times and good, through losing as well as winning. Those who understand the powerful concept of faith in friends and teammates understand perfectly well why Melo did what he did in New York in December 2006, and why he did not appeal the harsh ruling of the Dark Ruler, David Stern. And the force will definitely always be with him. Youtube no longer has the town or city of the movie makers for some strange reason. But thank you very much Arthur, wherever you are. Rising Empire 1 Rising Empire 2 Rising Empire 3 Rising Empire 4
It may take some years for Carmelo Anthony's team to win the NBA, but it took just a few months for his team to win the NCAA, and just a few months for his team to win the FIBA (Federation of International Basketball) 2007 tournament for Team USA.
