Well, its official, the Vikings are in complete disarray. Blame Red McCombs for slowly stripping the team of all the assets it needs to win in this league, from experienced coaches to a good staff. McCombs eliminated any position that he didn't deem 'necessary'. At the same time, he didn't spend any time asking for discipline on his team. Tice is completely in over his head. He was an offensive line coach then promoted to a head coach...not smart. The guy may have ruined his chances of becomming a head coach by taking the job before he was ready. Ted Cotrell has proven that he doesn't know how to organize a defense, and Steve Loney is playing the role of OC, line coach, and scapegoat. Tagliabue told new owner Zygi Wilf this: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"The commissioner emphasized to me that I inherited an organization that was inadequately structured and staffed," Wilf said. "We must correct that to ensure the highest standards of team operations, including discipline, accountability, strong oversight and internal communications."</div> Read between the lines: Wilf, you got ripped off. The good news is that the players are good, the team still has potential. Put in someone who can put some fear back in the players, get a good structure, not bring in a different OC every week, and definitely not have 4 coaches calling plays, buy an offensive line, and hopefully this team can turn around next year. For this year, I am just hoping we can go 4-12.
Well we should be use to it by now. Red probably took the course Carl Pohlad's how to run a sports team on a nickel and dime budget. Atleast now we have an owner that willing to spend money on the team. It seems coach Tice has turned into Coach Klein (in Waterboy) he probably sitting in the locker at halftime behind some clothes asking the team if they have any ideas.
