<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>One person we talked to suggested the Packers could be enticed by an offer of a third-round draft pick and tailback Chester Taylor. But we have a hard time believing the Vikings would part with Taylor, even though they would be protecting their backup running back at the possible expense of getting a new starting quarterback.</div>

I would offer that in a heart beat if I were Minnesota. There are plenty of decent back up RB's out there that they can sign. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I always thought that NFL draft picks were over-valued. I would offer that up for Favre, especially if I believed that it would make me a Championship contender (which I don't think it does).

I agree and I disagree....lol. I disagree with getting rid of Taylor and picking up a free-agent on...Taylor is a proven 1,000 yd rusher who still hasn't played all that much. He is alot better than any RB left out there. And with "AD" getting dinged up last year, I'm not sure I would feel safe getting rid of our top back-up when we let Moore walk away to the Steelers. If we still had Moore I would say yes.

Now I do agree with draft picks being overrated. With that being the case why not give greenbay the 1st rounder they were asking the other teams? If not that maybe a little better than the Jason Taylor and Shockey trades and offer a 2nd & 5th round pick along with a option to swap pick position in the 4th round if Green Bay has a better record...or better yet the two picks in 2009 and an additional 5th rounder in 2010 if the Vikings reach the playoffs? Something along that line could work, right?

Yeah I agree about Chester as an insurance policy. RBs get too banged up in this league, and having a good back-up like that is valuable. If I were Minnesota I'd offer a few more draft picks instead.

Like I've said before, Brett can pretty much negate the interest any other team has in him by threatening to retire. In that sense he has a pseudo-no-trade clause.

If I was the Vikings, I might wait out the situation, I dont think the Packers are going to keep him on the roster if he decides to report to training camp so they could just sign him when he is a free agent because the Vikes are his first choice.

But if they get a report that another team offered a good offer to the pack then a 3rd round pick would be alright because this move could get them far in the playoffs.

I agree. They should wait and see if it goes as far as Favre reporting to camp...and then wait and see if they actually add him to the active roster.
If anything I see the Packers adding him to thier roster and then trading him to the Vikings for less than they want, due to the unrest in the locker room. You'd think that having him stay now would be worse than trading him to a rival. Either way Favre can't be on the Packers at the start of the season
