    Bruce Bisping, Star Tribune

Vikings Jared Allen stretched during the first day of minicamp at Winter Park.

And there you have it, Vikings fans: the 2008 expectations straight from the mouth of new star Jared Allen.

    1. Jared Allen, DE, Minnesota Vikings: Allen is the best pure pass-rusher in the NFL. That's why Minnesota gave up a ton (a first-round pick and two third-rounders) to get him in a trade from Kansas City last month. Allen is a defense-changing talent and he's getting better. At 26, Allen is just entering his prime. Look at last season. Despite serving a two-game league suspension for violating the substance abuse policy, Allen led the league with 15? sacks in 14 games. He has an incredible motor and tries to get to the quarterback every play. Expect Allen to lead the league in sacks a few more times before his career is over. There is no doubt the Vikings just acquired the most dominant pass-rusher in the NFL.

Considering the financial investment that the Vikings made to upgrade their roster this offseason, it should come as no surprise that owner Zygi Wilf and Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen have grand expectations.

Wilf, attending the team's weekend minicamp, talked about the "tremendous amount of talent" the Vikings possess and that "every position that we felt we needed to get better at, we've brought the players in." Allen, the biggest name among the newcomers, was even more direct. "We expect to go to the Super Bowl," he said.

I must say that I'm as happy as the next Vikings fan of the players we picked up this offseason, but even I'm a lil leery to start talking SuperBowl. I love my Vikings and like our chances of taking our Division heavy handedly...but I think we need at least a year to gel before we can make that claim. But, I'd be happy as hell if it happened
