The Minnesota Vikings already had nearly $32 million in cap space heading into the start of free agency next week, but it appears they'll create a little more by releasing tight end John Carlson. A league source confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the Vikings plan to release the 29-year-old tight end after failing to agree with him on a second straight restructured deal. Carlson, who signed a five-year, $25 million deal with the Vikings in 2012, was scheduled to make $5 million next season. The Vikings will save $2 million in cap room by releasing Carlson after the remaining $3 million on his signing bonus is escalated onto their 2014 salary cap.
