<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Vin diesels out of Minnesota MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves released forward Vin Baker on Monday. The 14-year veteran, a former All-Star whose career was derailed by alcoholism and problems with depression, did not play in any of Minnesota's first six games. The 6-foot-11 forward made the team after signing a nonguaranteed contract in training camp.Baker has averaged 15 points and 7.4 rebounds in 791 NBA games with the Clippers, Rockets, Knicks, Celtics, SuperSonics and Bucks. He said in camp last month he felt great, having trimmed down to 250 pounds after once weighing close to 300 pounds. The move reduced the Timberwolves' roster to 14 players, with one spot open.</div>Did anyone NOT see this coming?Link

Applauds the creative topic headline. Little things like that bring interest to a topic. On Vin, didn't even realize he was on the Wolves. For some reason, I thought he was cut back during training camp. Sounds like from the weight loss, he's putting in the effort. Kind of got squeezed by Casey's rotation of the bigs, who needs to be fired by the way. His play of Troy Hudson over James/Foye is mind boggling. Feels like deja vu, with how he pinched Griffin for minutes last year, even when it was clear Griffin was their 2nd or 3rd best big after KG. But Yeah back to Vinnie, I feel he'll latch onto to another team soon, be it NBDL, NBA or in Europe.

I don't think 35-36 year old Vin Baker is eligable to play in the D-League. [IMG]

Oh well. I saw this coming, especially with the great surprise of Craig Smith. But it's a shame how Baker handled his life in the past few years. He was an All-Star at one point, a 20/10 guy, then he screwed everything up once he fell in love with alcohol. While I'm glad that he has supposedly cleared up his drinking problem, I can't feel much compassion/sympathy for a guy that screwed 2 teams with his problem (Seattle and Boston), and lost his star status.

I will always hold a grudge against Vin Baker after what happened throughout his tenure in Boston. We traded our starting PG for him (Kenny Anderson), he ended up basically sucking his first year in Boston. But, then in the 2nd year he really turned it on, he was averaging like 14 and 7 for us for a while, then he started drinking again. Idiot.

    EDIT: Nice title pj.

It feels as if he has been in the league for 20 years lol, and its only been 14. definitely not a good way to end a decent career....
