Thought this would have been posted already but Vince is 2nd in the East behind Shaq in voting thus far. Kinda suprising with the way he has been playing that so many people still support him.

My editor asked me the same question this morning and I said no. Then, lo and behold, the NBA sends me an e-mail with the first all-star voting results. Vince Carter has the second most votes of any player in the East (Shaq is first). Kobe has the fourth most votes in the West behind Yao, Kevin Garnett and T-Mac. Go figure.

Are you joking me? Vince is not in the superstar realm anymore. The most I'll say is he's a star. Superstar? Na. Vince gets the votes mostly because of his dunks, and highlight reels.

well just because some 14 year old, pimple faced geek votes for him doesn't make him a superstar.

True VC isn't a superstar anymore, their are only about 3 or 4 of those in the league

VC will throw down his dunks in the ASG...If he plays in it...Hopefully he'll be the MVP this year...Last year Kenny Smith predicted he would be, and I did too...He would of been the MVP but that stupid Carlisle benched him when he was playing so good. Even though its a ASG, you gotta put the top 5 players from that game in the game in the 4th, down the stretch like that in a close game...I'm over that though. VC will rebound...hopefully:)

I would vote for VC too because many people want to see excitement at the ASG. Just flat out highlight reel one after another. It doesn't even matter to me who the MVP is. As long as the east wins I'm good.

For real. The superstars are only players like KG, Duncan, and Tim Thomas.

I'm just kidding on that one by the way [IMG]

Vincedoesnt' even have any more highlight reels either. He jumpshoots all day, and doesn't dunk much anymore. If they wanted excitement, a backcourt of Wade, Francis and Lebron would be crazy. Not injured Vince.

What highlight reels and dunks? He doesn't do them during the season, only in the All-Star games. It's sad because this is all a populatrity contest. Guys who are truly undeserving of an all-star spot will get in no matter how poorly they are playing and amazing players simply will not get it because the casual fan doesn't know too much about thier game. Instead, all they know are the Kobe's, Carter's and KG's of the league. I'm not saying KG nor Kobe doesn't deserve the selection but Carter definetly doesn't, until he steps his game up.

Dwyane Wade better be voted in this year.

Vince is still one the most popular players. Hes on the fron Cover on NBA inside Stuff AHEAD OF Kobe, Lebron and TMac. Its a good pickup. It talks about how he is the best dunker of all time with a nice interview.

All Star game is for dunks. Vince is the best dunker in the league. Even last year he had some sick dunks. Hes jumped pretty high this year so people want to see that.

vince is a superstar. Maybe not in terms of skill, but what is a superstar? In my definition and others its someone that has creates a huge fan interest, someone that draws people in. Someone that sells tickets, shirts and games like no one else.
I would say superstar fits these people:
Duncan, KG, Iverson, Kobe, LBJ, VC, Shaq, Yao

those are the big names that appeal to the average nba fan....they are the bulk remember. The die hards that are on this site and site's like it are right that skill wise VC isnt there anymore. But the majority rules and to the majority Vince is a superstar

    So VC doesnt have skill??

Just how did Vince become a superstar then. High flyin dunks and SKILLL. Agreed he doesnt have it like he did in 2001 and 2002.....but he didnt lose all of it. With a new change in scenery perhaps he could get a lot of it back. Vince is the best in all star games.

Let the voters speak and then do all the Vince bashing you want.

He's in there because people just want to see him dunk it and since it is the All Star Game, chances are he will dunk it. Vince does still have skill, just not as much as he had in say 2002.

Lebron is already going to be starting at guard, how would that work, he'd start at 2 positions?

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting dunksworth:</div><div class="quote_post">You better be kidding.... Duncan is overrated</div>

ARE U SERIOUS.... this better be another joke. If you think a 2 time MVP who is the epidome of consistency and fundamentals is OVERATED then you should just stop watching basketball. Especially since your favourite player is Vince Freakin Carter who is the definition of overrated.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Just how did Vince become a superstar then. High flyin dunks and SKILLL. He had it in the year 2000 and 2001, that's it. After that, he just became injury plagued, lost most of his hops. Doesnt' posterize people anymore. I agree, Vince USED to be the best dunker of all time. Not anymore, the honor of best dunker in the league right now goes to J-Rich, 2nd place, Francis, 3rd D-Mase.

Now, in games all Vince does is shoot 3s and shoot off picks, or force stuipd shots. He is nowhere near superstardom... He used to be... I dont think 15 ppg on 40% shooting with like 2 apg and 2 rpg is near being an allstar. He doesn't even attract people anymore, I watch Raps games all the time, and they're boring, real boring. If you think superstars are only peple who attract fans and such, then is Duncan not an allstar cause of his boring play???

Honestly, VC is never gonna be the same, and will never be a great dunker again. He's too scared to take it to the hole, and in the all-star game, I'm sure people like Francis and Lebron will have better dunks.
