One game does, not determine an All Star. If Tony Parker outplays Steve Nash in a game, does he deserve an apperence more than Nash?

...And here's my justification for my comment. Seriously, I'm not a Carter hater or anything, in fact he's on my fantasy team and I'm pretty happy he got fifty one points tonight. But when I heard this was his career high, I was kind of confused. I mean, I was seriously surprised because I thought his career high would actually be a bit higher. I guess I just thought that someone with Carter's athleticism, skills, ability to get to the rim, and him being the number one option in Toronto, that it would be higher than fifty one points. I guess I over emphasized when I said "sad" so I guess the correct term would be disapointed?

Hey, Kobe's career high was 51 until that 62 point game a few days ago. Career highs don't define how good you are as a player; heck, Tony Delk's career high is 53.

Yeah, I would agree here. With all the "Va-Va-Voom" surrounding Carter, you'd wonder why his career high was 51 points.. Though that is a great stat for any player, Carter was the number 1 option on a team where he could do whatever the heck he wanted. Like you said, his skills alone should account for more than 51 points, but the fact that he was able to shoot whenever he wanted, drive whenever he wanted, and was the driving force on a playoff caliber team for quite a while, it's kinda suprising.. The fact that he reached his season average on free-throws alone is interesting. I didn't watch the game, but to be fouled enough to get 24 freethrows, he'd have to be fouled atleast 8 times (that is, if he shot 3s every time he was fouled).

I do not hate Carter though, nor do I dislike him. It's good to see that such a great player mopped by other problems (injuries, crappy team, etc.) is finally getting back to the top, and he went over 50% from the field, only missed a free-throw, grabbed 8 boards, and played against a SOLID heat line-up.. that's good for him. Kinda odd he only had 4 assists, for all the points he had scored -- but I guess that happens when you play with Jason Kidd.

EDIT: Funny how 3 Rocket board posters post in a row .. That's weird. [IMG]

What do you expect? The game was on National TV. It's a known fact. On National TV, Carter plays at this level, if it's not a national tv broadcast, more often than not he'll return to his inner softness.

I believe Kobe's previous career high was 56, and he did that against Memphis in 3 quarters.

In regards to AznxBaller's comment, I think Philly fans have pretty high standards as far as socring records and career highs are concerned.

Considering you're defending Vince, this has got to be the most ironic argument anyone has ever come up with.

    VC's Amazing!

Vince Carter's been playing great basketball. And not just this game (Broadcast or not[IMG] ), he's attacking more and very aggressive on both ends of the floor. Before tonights game, VC averaged 31.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, shooting close to 47 percent from the field, 39 percent from 3's and almost 86 percent from the FT in the last 4 games. The Nets looks like the Nets team that charged into the playoffs last year. Now all we need is to get some consistency from the bench and greater numbers from Richard Jefferson.

    GO NETS![IMG]

But to go so low and say something like that is unneccessary. The past five games haven't been on national television, and he's been nothing short of spectacular.

This game wasn't on National TV.

Nets have turned it around lately, thanks in large part to Vince Carter. He's definitely the POM thus far. He's becoming more agressive, hense the high (compared his regular averages) 8.8 FTA per game he has this month.
