Sounds good, But like the old saying goes talk is cheap. And actions speak louder then words. Carter has a fresh start so to speak in Jersey. But he will still have many critics watching him. If he thinks Toronto pressure is bad, he hasnt began to taste that New York media. But anyway the best way for Carter to prove people wrong is his play on the court. And its not just scoring the basketball cause everyone knows he can do that. Its showing more commitment on the defensive end of the floor. Its using his athletism to rebounding the basketball better, especially giving the Nets frontcourt situation. They are going to look more to their perimeter for rebounding help. RJ is already one of the best perimeter rebounders in the league. And Kidd once he get back to himself is a great rebounder from the point, so the pieace the Nets need to step up and join those to on the boads will be Carter. Anyway, the Nets are going to need him to knock off a team like Cleveland tommorrow. But if he isnt ready he shouldnt rush it, cause the worst thing that can happen for the Nets is Carter step out there. And make a small injury expeand into a big injury to set back this team. The Nets have to put together a strong run soon inorder to get back in the .500 range. And that means guys need to be healthy first and for most.
hes not going to be as good as he was, that was his all-time high, and like chuck said, Carter <u>was</u> the best dunker ever.
Used to really despise Carter, and I frown upon the way he acted in Toronto, however, I am going to forget about all of that past and allow a new conception of him form inside of my mind. I hope that everyone else will also do the same thing (allow Carter re-show himself). Carter might have been the best dunker in the league, but who is to say that he will never be again. A note on Chuck: I would not trust what Barkley says too much. He gets paid to say things that 'make sense' to people. Most of the stuff that says is either too simple (there are other dimensions to an issue) or is simply wrong (inorder to allow the other commentators somthing to argue about).
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> note on Chuck: I would not trust what Barkley says too much </div> I think he was referring to Chuck Swirsky from Raptors broadcasting but I could be wrong.
I dont think the the Nets are looking for Carter to be at the level he was 4 years ago. I think they are just looking for someone to take the pressure off Jefferson in the scoring column. And help the Nets win some games, while being one of the league's more entertaining players. I think 19ppg with about 4 to 5 rpg, is what Iam hoping from Carter. That will allow RJ to flourish even more because playing along side a guy putting up those scoring #'s take some of the attention defenses was showing him away. Rj will get better looks at the basket, his shot selection should improve not having to carry so much offensive load. And his playmaking should improve as well.
I think that Vince will be his old self once again, man I wish I had half the confidence Carter has right now. I hope that Carter can take the pressure off of RJ, and I cant wait to see how RJ,VC, and Kidd play like together. BTW, does anyone know what # Carter's taking in New Jersey? Is he still #15?
Interesting comments, but I could care less at what he says. I actually want to see him come out and do what he says he's going to do. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting DerfZ:</div><div class="quote_post">hes not going to be as good as he was, that was his all-time high, and like chuck said, Carter <u>was</u> the best dunker ever.</div> Carter's the best dunker of all time, despite his injuries, he can do any dunk that he could of done 3, 4 years ago. Just watch tapes and highlights from this summer in China when he threw down nasty dunks.
Vince was in China? dont remember that.....I know he went years ago.... Vince is still a tremendous dunker. Even in his most injury ridden season...(02-03)..he came back with some wicked reverses, some incredible 360s and various others. He already had a windmill this season. hes still a major high flyer.
I'd like Carter to come back to his old form like he had something to prove. Don't get me wrong; I don't want him to do too much, but if he played his agressive drive to the basket style, he cannot be stopped. He's no doubt a better scorer than RJ and is would hope they transition him in more. However, if he's going to be jump shooting carter, give it to RJ more. Don't get me wrong, it's still RJ's team, but play to the strengths on the team is what I'm asking for.
Incorrect till JKidd reclaims the team. He's still recovering and RJ's been leading the team all season. Any big plays made or big shots made were because of RJ's play, not Jason. It is Jason's team in advertising and publicity, but not because of play.
