AI and Tmac's opinion on Kobe's performance means way more than what Vince has to say. He's a hater, he's still mad about the last time Lakers and Nets played and him and Kobe were about to get down, it's all good. He shoots a lot too, I don't understand what he's trying to get it.
i haven't heard anything about tmac or ai, what'd they say? and since when is quitting on your team for selfish reasons a good example?
Like I said in the other thread, it doesn't sound like Vince was trying to diss Kobe.... taken out of context IMO On a side note, have they gotten a response from Shaq yet?
Vince Carter cannot say ANYTHING about ANYBODY at this point. Let's see what's worse? Scoring 81 points in a victory and making history OR half assing your effort in the last team you played in and were openly admitting to it. Carter is jealous because Kobe is having the season of his life and VC isn't. Reggie Miller was totally right about VC and he makes two to express an MVP lockdown for Kobe B.
Kobe's response to Vince Carter ... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"What I try to do is inspire others to be better," Bryant said. "I think you look at that game, it was a big struggle for us. And you look at the shots I was taking, the shots I was making - if you had seen me work out in the summer time, coming in here at 6 or 7 o'clock in the morning, you would have seen me take those same shots over and over and over and over again. "The message to the youth is that if you put your mind to something, you can accomplish what a lot of people say can't be done. But you have to apply yourself, you have to work. "I think if you apply yourself, work at it and stay persistent, you don't know what you can accomplish, and I think that's a great message." </div> If you play around with the letters long enough in this quote it translates into... I'm coming to torch you in March!
WORD TO YA MUTHA!!, lol j/k But Kobe is so RIGHT, every shot you see him take in a game where you're like "THATS SUCH A BAD SHOT" Yeah it would be for anyone else but Kobe, because he practices those "BAD" shots in Practice ALL THE SAME, especially in the Summer. Screw Vince Carter, I still have respect for his BBALL game, and his crazy dunks, but he's another one i add to the hater list. Tmac or AI > Vince Carter --- ANY DAY

It's funny how that works. Overall do I think Carter is jealous? Yes I think he is.
lol, I'm not gonna say anything, when I read your post, I looked at your Team and your Favorites, then started to laugh. It's all good man, I just expected more from VC It's not like he said Kobe sucks, but the fact that a lot of other NBA players realized what went into Kobe's performance, I'm disappointed in VC.
i thought vince was amazed or something anyways that is pretty f'ed up and shaq said "give me 50 shots and see how much i score"
Im glad you saw my favorite players and my favorite team. Did you by any chance see this part of my post. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Overall do I think Carter is jealous? Yes I think he is.</div>

He needs to practice what he's preaching because he's not a team player.

Perhaps he'd say the same thing about his style of play. Young kids shouldn't try to play like him if they don't have the skills. Carter wasn't criticizing Kobe at all. He was talking, specifically, about the impact the game would have. He said it was an awesome feat, and great for the league. Kobe fans need to chill and take his comments in context.

If he considers NBA players as role models for younger generations, then should Vince Carter start practicing what he's preaching? The second Carter said "The only bad thing..." he opened himself up for criticism. As for the lesson, I think it depends on how a coach or parent want to spin it. You can just as easily point out the positives of this acheivement and relate to Kobe's hardwork and desire to win. You can also point out how NOT to play defense when a player is on fire. And to make light of the situation it was a team effort. Kobe's team was making an effort to help #8 make history under the right circumstances.
I don't think Vince was hating on Kobe, I just think that he opens himself up for criticism when speaking on being a positive role model. Vince turned me into a BIG fan 5 years ago when he flew to his graduation before game 7 of the Semi's verse AI and the sixers. Unfortunately that action wasn't well received (if Jordan had done that they would have elected him president on the spot) and he then quit on that toronto team. As a result of that, it's hard to take Vince as a spokesperson for a positive role model because people focus on the negative and see what he did wrong. As for being jealous- a lot of players are, for a lot of reasons- the NBA has turned into an individualized sport (you can thank MJ for that) so many players are probably jealous that Kobe is in the position to do whatever he pleases. Everyone know's that on any given night, Kobe can hoist as many shots as he wants, and no one but phil jackson will even bring it up- and even he will be tentative in his criticisms. Who wouldn't be jealous of that kind of freedom? Plus all the love Kobe's getting now-How do you think athletes that are used to being The Man all their livesfeel when, suddenly they are being asked about a guy that lives and plays three thousand miles away? Reporters aren't asking "What is the state of the heat..." they are asking "What do you think of Kobe...". Shaq demanded a trade to get away from all that...
You know, some has big mouth and some don't Some may be jealous and some may think that Kobe did take so many shots so that it would be fool if he didn't put up so many points. I think what Kobe did was great regardless of how many shots he took. At least he had guts to take so many shots cuz he knew he would make more than half of them. I think the ones who should be feeling bad right now is Kobe's teammates. If they proved to Kobe that they could make some shots as well, Kobe didn't need to shoot 40+ times. Lakers seriously need someone else to step up and step up night in and night out.
