he has 0 passion. who else just saw him with mcgrady smiling and laughing with him??? this clown doesn't give a fxck about winning or losing. he played with heart last year for a new contract and now he can care less. fxck the quitter
To be fair, McGrady is his cousin. But yea, I always found that annoying about him too. Not exactly sure what it says about his effort, but I hated seeing him laughing it up with opponents during close games.
Vince Carter is enjoying himself now. When Kidd was around, Carter would constantly be criticized about not driving to the basket. Jason would put pressure on Carter, and obviously Vince doesn't like it. VC doesn't care about winning a championship. He just wants to play his game, and earn money. Now he has that opportunity. What's Frank going to do? Bench him?
I hate it when he wraps his towel around his head and starts to take shits on the bench like he doesn't care anymore.
Honestly, why should he care? This team is horrible. Nobody on the team cares about the season anymore; he isn't alone. I'm not defending all the man's actions, but if you're going to criticize him, then criticize everyone else as well.

Hell, from what I've read, even Iggy gets in the face of his players when their underachieving. Vince is nothing short of bum, and I really don't care if anyone thinks otherwise.

The only person I feel sorry for on this Nets team is Richard Jefferson. Dude always fights. One night he does it better than the other, but he always cares. If only we could trade Vince somehow to eliminate the example of passivity!
Well he's not a leader. If the purpose of this thread was to question whether or not he was one or if he was the right man to support a franchise, I'll help you out right now: he isn't. I know there was another thread in the Nets forum about finding a franchise player and I think Vince Carter is the shining example of what you don't want to get caught in. He's got more talent and ability than a GM could reasonably hope for, but there's no leadership or heart or work ethic. A franchise player doesn't necessarily have to be the type of player that requires max money or has higher-level talent.

Some criticized him for complaining and being a bad teammate, but I would much rather have my players be upset about losing rather than just laughing it off and not giving a shit.
It's his cousin... If you lost a meaningless game and a family member was on the other team would you stay bitter at them? I mean what do you expect, he loses the game, pouts, and then refuses to speak to his family?

BTW, this was from that stretch run in the 04/05 season when the Cavs lost the final playoff spot on the last game of the season to the Nets. And the Nets clinched the final playoff spot on the back of that no leadership quality quitter, heartless quitter, no effort quitter, passionless quitter Vince Carter.

You're supposed to play each game with heart and passion, and Vince seems to do neither. This is the NBA, not some development league.
