Not the all round play, I'm talking about who throws the best dunks. Green can get a lot of height, and VC can also do some great dunks, but which does better?
VC easily. More creative, and while he doesn't get quite as high as Green does, his motions are a lot more crisp and flowing than Green.VC, because of creativity and how he executes his mid-air movements absolutely perfectly.
VC easily. More creativity by far and can actually do incredible dunks in games. Plus the guy can elevate to. He had a 50 inch vert. Remember the video of him jumping over the guy and dunking in the olympics.
Let me just say this - both of them are top 5 dunkers in the NBA. Period. But Vince Carter is the best dunker of all time, IMO. I don't think you can compare anything that anyone has ever done to what Vince Carter has thrown down. He has an unbelievable mixture of elevation, flair, grace, and power. I could watch Vince Carter highlights all day long. Gerald Green is an amazing dunker as well, and he gets up higher than Vince. He can throw down almost anything too, but Vince Carter has it all. If this thread was comparing MJ or Dominique to Vince (dunking wise), I would still say Vince without hesitation. But I will also say this - Gerald Green will win the 2007 dunk contest.

I remember the bulk of them being 39 and 40 inches. I know Gerald Green came into the league with a 42'' vertical, btw. Just throwing that out there. But Vince Carter is still the best dunker of all time, even if he doesn't jump the absolute highest.
Nevermind I thought forsure I read somewher eat one point it was 50. Whatever. It says though it is 43 inches which is still great.
VC easily. VC's creativity is outstanding. I'll never forget 2002 starting from 360 windmill, arm in the hoop, bounce to the between the legs. He is just flat out sick with it. WOW was that a great dunk contest (francis, tmac). The dunk constant is back now... robinson, josh smith, iguodala.. bringing it back.
But sporting webbs jersey and jumping over kmart was sick (2 years ago).anyways my for that.. :focus:

Before the VC elbow in the rim, when had you seen something like that? How many people in a nationally televised broadcast do a between the legs dunk off an oop? How about the reverse 360 windmill, possibly the greatest dunk I have ever seen? Gerald Green is an amazing dunker, but no one touches VC's creativity. In games, from HS tapes and in his NBA career, Green seems to rely on the height of his jump to wow the crowd, while VC does windmills off of oops, extremely difficult movements in mid air through other defenders to get dunk down, etc...

It's a mix I made of Gerald taking you from high school, to the All-American dunk contest, to summer league, D-League, and of course his NBA highlights. To say he doesn't/can't do windmills and stuff is nuts. He actually is a very creative dunker.
NEVER said he can't do what VC does or that he isn't creative, but nothing he has done in games comes close to VC 1999-2001.
I think alex is trying to say Gerald Green is a great dunker. Beyond normal.. but VC still gets the edge because we've seen him do things we've never seen before, but thats not taking anything away from green.

Gerald does do difficuly movements in mid air, dunk on people, etc. as well. Vince does it better, but you made it sound like Gerald doesn't do that stuff.
He doesn't do the windmills, the amazing changes of direction in mid air, and all of that very much at all, HS or NBA. VC had an amazing highlight every week for about 2-3 straight years. The NBA TV dunk of the year in your video just shows what I am talking about, uses height of jump and strenght of throwdown to wow crowd, while VC uses the mid air acrobatics. Not saying Green isn't creative and can't do a lot of the stuff VC does, but he doesn't do it much in games, and isn't as creative or flowing as VC when he does do those windmills and such.
Green sick windmill @ Torontohttp://youtube.com/watch?v=zsnEWeFbiNo
Sick? It was a good windmill, but nothing too amazing, and was done on the break with no one near him. Keyword: Warmups. That dunk reminds me of the dunks T-Mac did in the dunk contest back in 2000. Very cleanly done, though. Dunk contest. Charity game, and actual dunk wasn't too impressive. You can see between the legs dunks in meaningless games by players half a foot shorter in And 1. Hell Ricky Davis has done it more than once, and has done it better as well. Windmill and between the legs....that's all you have shown me.Neither were creative dunks. Wanna see some true power and amazing jumping ability, along with a bit of creativity mixed in?http://youtube.com/watch?v=INK-Pr6Z82Ahttp://youtube.com/watch?v=ElbYgk3_riU So far all he has shown in NBA is power and jumping ability during games, with one very basic windmill (which VC, despite losing some jumping ability, still pulls off better). In dunk contest, nothing he did was as creative as what VC did in 2000 (and even in 1994, during his HS dunk contest, he pulled off some very creative dunks never before seen in HS). During games VC is arguably the most creative of all time, watch a few mixes on youtube for proof. Windmills off of an oop thrown off the glass, reverse 360 statue of liberties, weaving in and out of people in mid air while throwing down the reverse jam, and of course other dunks never before seen (or done as well) in games.
