I was on my break at the mall today and I wandered into Sportchek. They have an authentic Nike Vince Carter away jersey on sale for $99CDN (about $60 US). I know that NBA.com and stores like Champs in the States are having huge sales for authentic jerseys right now so it might not seem that cheap but in Canada, authentic jeseys are about $200 CDN and never go on sale. My question is: should I buy it with all this stuff surrounding Vince right now, considering we don't even know if he's staying or should I wait? I'm leaning towards getting it because I figure Swingmans even cost $80-100 already so an authentic for the same price would be pretty cheap. BTW: I probably would've bought it already but I just spent $180 this week on some new Nike Monster Shox and my bank account is running a little low.
id go for it mang. is it fully authentic or is it a swingman? i have the fully authentic style, and spent about 170 on it at the ACC about 2yrs ago who cares if he leaves...i have lots of jerseys that are outdated...ie: jason williams kings, jerry stackhouse sixers...etc. they end up being a retro jersey of sorts which is cool in its own way. these days its impossible to buy a jersey and a few years down the road the player and jersey still match up. if you like the player, and like the jersey...why not? its a good deal, id pick it up for sure
yeah it's authentic...Nike Dri-Fit material and all, not like the mesh that's on the Swingmans and stuff...it's on sale from $180 ...that's a good point about the outdated jersey and stuff, I'm going to support Vince no matter where he's playing (but hopefully it's with us), so it really doesn't matter I saw a Nash Mavericks Swingman jersey for $60 too, I was tempted to pick that one up too.
If you want the jersey and feel it is worth the money, then go for it. However, if you are running low on cash, then wait a while and play things out. But overall, forget about all of the rumors going around regarding trades and such, because that shouldn't matter. If he leaves, you have a throwback
yea man...sounds like the same vince jersey i got. i got the white one even if he does move on to another team...still a sick jersey. i like the way they are cut at the back on the bottom. the rounded style cut...look really nice. i say pick it up man...its a bargain.
thanks guys, I'm going to be picking it up tomorrow I love the material of all the jerseys Nike makes - Toronto's, Miami's, Detroits, Lakers... It's too bad that Nike's contract with the league ends next year and they're going to stop making them. I've never been a fan of anything that Reebok makes, epecially their jerseys.
really huh? shitty deal...i better pick up a few more swingmans while they still make em. love the retro swingmans too damn, i been meaning to get a photo of all my jerseys for the "post your jerseys" thread goin on. i got lots of replicas...only a few swingmans...but still. im a collector
^ Nike is releasing a Michael Jordan retro Bulls jersey this month before their contract expires...I have to get that one! BTW: I was just thinking why the VC jersey is going on sale, right when all these trade rumours are surfacing...maybe they know something we don't! :suspicous
I should have realized this before but the reason why all the Nike authentics are on sale is because they won't be authentics next season. Their contract is ending and Reebok is taking over so Nike won't be making any jerseys next season. So after the contract ends, the existing jerseys can't be called "authentic" anymore, because they won't be what the teams are wearing. Sucks, if I buy the jersey now, it's not going to be authentic anymore come next season.
^who cares, nike > reebok, but youa re lucky, there are like no authetnics being sold by me. I ordered the alston authentic off of NBA.com though
I wonder if the jerseys will look the same with the v-neck and all and Nike's dri-fit material is patented so it's not going to be the same material. Everything Reebok makes is inferior.
Just came back from gettin my jersey...so glad that I decided to get it. There's really no comparison with authentics and replicas and swingmans. The quality is so much better. But then again, authentics are usually too expensive for me so Swingmans are a good tradeoff with price and quality. I was tempted to pickup the red alternate swingman jersey too, it was on sale for $80. Now if I can only find an authentic alternate before Nike stops making them. I'm going to being wearing this jersey constantly until Vince decides he wants to stay a Raptor
Is it a Nike Authentic one with the Swoosh under the Logoman, or the procut ones without the swoosh? And which road one did you get, purple or Alternate? I got all 3 but at different times. I got the road one I decemeber for my Birthday and the first 2 when Vince could dunk.
the Nike ones with the swoosh under the NBA logo are Swingman replicas, so they're not authentic. Nike authentics won't have the Nike logo on top and it will have NBA authentics logo on the label near the bottom (which is the one I got). Nike basically make two versions: the Swingman (the replicas) and the Authentics. I got the purple away, it's very difficult finding an authentic red alternate jersey around here (I have only seen the Champion and Swingman replicas). Don't know if I answered your question or just made you more confused
Nike authentic (the one I have): Nike Swingman (replica): the Swingmans have the Nike logo on top, the authentics don't. Reebok (replica - the worst of them all):
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post">I got the 2nd one. Any other Nike Authentic jerseys they got at sportchek beside Carter?</div> not that I could see but your local one might be different...
I'ver only seen Carter Authentics @ sport cheks. and Reebok will probably make the V-Neck Jerseys, and they have a similar mateiral to dri-fit, however the name is pretty stupid -> "Play cool" or something like that. Some people who already have REebok authetnics say their jerseys are a heavier material and feel better, although I sitll think its lower quality/
