https://syndication.bleacherreport....ment-reportedly-files-xfl-trademarks.amp.html Vince McMahon's new business entity, Alpha Entertainment, has filed multiple trademarks for the XFL amid speculation the football league could be revived in the future. Per ESPN's Darren Rovell, five trademarks for the XFL were filed by Alpha Entertainment on Dec. 16 and showed up in the trademark office filings Thursday. Rovell added that McMahon sold 3.34 million shares of his stock in WWE worth close to $100 million. The trademark filings are for the XFL as a "professional football league and also cover merchandise related to the league." A WWE spokesperson issued a statement to Deadspin's David Bixenspan last Friday noting McMahon established and was personally funding Alpha Entertainment "to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including football." Brad Shepard of Nation One News reported that same day McMahon was looking to bring the XFL back and could make an announcement on Jan. 25, which would also coincide with WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view that will take place in Philadelphia three days later. WWE and NBC founded the XFL as a joint venture in 1999. The league lasted just one season in 2001, with the Los Angeles Xtreme defeating the San Francisco Demons in the Million Dollar Game. McMahon has been the chairman and CEO of WWE since purchasing controlling interest in the company from his father in 1982.
