<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"If you asked the casual baseball fan to name the all-time leader in games played at shortstop, chances are that Cal Ripken would come up. He did appear in a major-league-record 2,632 consecutive games, after all. But even baseball's Iron Man trails Omar Vizquel for games at shortstop. And with three more appearances, Vizquel will tie Luis Aparicio for the all-time lead with 2,583 games at the grueling position."

Ripken, always one to appreciate toughness and longevity, expressed his congratulations to Vizquel in an e-mail to the Mercury News and called the 41-year-old Giants shortstop "a Hall of Famer in my mind."</div>

This was posted before yesterday's game, so it's now down to two. He didn't hit very well at all last year, but in his limited time since coming back from injury he's a .300 hitter this year. His glove, of course, has been great.
