hey sonics fans, i was just wondering if you know what is going on with vlad. i read somewhere a while back that he was to be traded and heard nothing since. any input?
Either he or Rashard Lewis was going to be traded, but nothing has happened so far. Recent statements by the management make me doubt if something will happpen.
He'll be a resticted free agent after the 04/05 season. I have a feeling one of he or Rashard will be traded at next season's trade deadline, doesn't look like much is going to happen at the moment with such a swingman heavy draft.
Someone is going to offer Vlad a contract next summer that will be too much for us to match. I have a feeling that both Radman and Ray Allen are going to end up walking out on the Sonics for nothing. I don't know when it happened but I'm seriously doubting Rick Sund general manager's abilities. I haven't heard not one rumor (outside of Fisher) of an impending signing or trade yet this summer. Since Kenyon Martin just signed w/ Denver how about a Ray Allen/Vlad Radmonovic/Antonio Daniels for Andre Miller/Nene/Rodney White proposal. I believe that all three of those Sonics will be free agents next season but I'm sure that adding an All-Star shooting guard to Denver would be something they would seriously consider (and Ray would love to be a part of an upcoming ball club). We would just need to acquire some depth at shooting guard. Denver would need to acquire depth at the point guard/power forward positions. Projected lineup for the Supes: Andre Miller/Ridnour Flip/David Young Rashard Lewis/Rodney White Nene/Collison/Evans Vitaly Potapenko/Robert Swift/Jerome James/Calvin Booth Projected lineup for the Nuggets: Antonio Daniels/Earl Boykins Ray Allen/Voshon Lenard/Jon Barry Carmelo Anthony/Vlad Radmonovic Kenyon Martin/Chris Andersen/Ryan Bowen Marcus Camby/Francisco Elson
^ Interesting you bring up Dre Miller. I remember when he was a free agent last season there were a few whispers his friendship with Rashard might get him to Seattle. I doubt he'd want to leave Denver for that, but the chance to add a superstar shooting guard to Kenyon and Melo would be tempting for the Nuggets. With Peja out, I would say Vlad will get a bigger role in the Olympic team, maybe a good games will give him some real confidence going into the season.
Here's to hoping Radman unleashes the fury in Athens and forces the head office to make a decision (who'da thunk it ).

I think that Sonics would have upgraded at both the point guard and power forward positions w/o having to spend a lot of money in free agency (they would actually get some cap relief). All three of the players that we would be shipping out would be free agents following the 2004-2005 season and I'm not sure that we could resign any of them. We would get an All-Star quality point guard and possibly a future All-Star power forward. Denver would get the shooting guard they covet along w/ getting a lights out shooter at the 3/4 (Vlad). If they can't resign everyone they would get cap relief.

Throw Ray and Vlad into a deal, and you still have Flip and Rashard. The upside on Nene is enormous, we all know what Miller brings to the table, and you're arguably getting similar production at the positions that have been 'weakened' by the trade. If you can in turn use part of the MLE to add someone like Eric Williams, or even just resign Ansu, you're laughing. Re-upping Nene and Flip is likely cheaper than re-upping Ray and Vlad when his deal runs out, and you're probably going to get more production across the board in the long run.
Jeff (New Jersey): Hey David, love your articules. Do You think Richard Jefferson and jason kidd will be enough to make it to the playoffs? and who should they get to play the PF position? David Aldridge: I think it will be hard for NJ to make the playoffs. Don't forget, Kidd is coming off a fairly serious knee injury, and it wouldn't surprise me if he missed some time at the start of the season. As far as power forward, you know who I'd try to get? Vlad Radmonovic. In the east, I think he could be a pretty effective four. He's obviously a 180 from K Mart, but he can shoot and run the floor ESPN.com
