Per an article from Bobby Marks I saw somewhere, the Blazers and Lillard can no longer agree for Dame to sit out. It would violate the new NBA rest rules. So Blazers have to bring Dame back and play him or trade him.

He'll get a phantom hamstring injury a few games into the season lol.

I believe this was brought up, league has much more authority to review this now. Especially with the public Dame trade talk they would push to make an example and punish the Blazers if any rules were violated or injuries overstated.

These new rules only apply to Allstar or all NBA players. So Dame is only one on the Blazers roster it would apply to. Everyone else can rest and not have those fines. League is expected to closely review Dame and Harden.

So if you want to play a different style ball then your all-star will play, essentially the league is then mandating you trade him because they are saying you Must play him.

    Unintended consequences.

If Harden relives history, he could come into camp overweight and out of shape and yet due to the new rule the Sixers must play him.

Not having read the rule, is there a minimum minute mandate for the time played?

Dame will be fresh and ready for the playoffs or for whomever trades for him, he is only playing five minutes per game…

he might not be willing to blemish his stats.

i don't see dame playing to a level less than his ability intentionally. i think if he's a blazer, he will play to win every game, and let whatever happens happen
