I think that's the reason -- Dirk says they gave us the championship last year, but he's the reason they lost the championship, because he wasn't the leader that he's supposed to be in the closing moments. That's because of great defense by us, but also he wasn't assertive enough as a leader's supposed to be.''</div>Where did that come from? Someone should tell Wade to look at the standings and see just where his leadership has taken the Heat
So much for Wade being humble...Although, I'll give him that he's right here. Dirk was the reason the Mavericks lost the finals. Then again, he was what brought him there. Hopefully this publicly calling out other stars won't continue.
Eek, definately NOT something I expect him to say. I don't mind him saying that, "We earned the ring, they didn't hand us anything," but do not single Dirk out.
Oh man Wade should not single out Dirk like that. You shouldn't go around critisizing other players like that.
That's a pretty terrible thing to say to Dirk. He should apologize. Dirk was never the leader. It was always Steve Nash. He did a great job of getting the Mavs past the Spurs and on to their first ever Finals appearence. And look who's leading the League currently....

He's arrogant now that he has a ring and blah blah.
Steve Nash was always the leader on the court while he was in Dallas...That was only Dirk's second season without him. He wasn't used to being a leader for the team..He isn't very vocal...
Wow this was unexpected. Wade's getting sort of an ego along with Gilbert. Still, that doesn't take anything away from them. They're both great players, and so is Dirk. Just shows what money, winning, and a good season can do to an ego.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mavsfan1000 @ Feb 9 2007, 04:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>D-Whistle strikes again. Easily the player I hate most in the nba. Someone should break his ego. lol</div>Funny you say D-Whistle and always talk trash about Wade and getting calls from the refs, yet in the Wade/Kobe topic never bring it up once and claim he takes so many FT's because he drives so much. Seems like Wade isn't the player you hate most in the league...Seems he is getting a bit of an ego, and I'm somewhating liking it, and somewhat disliking it. His modestness and quietness always made him a bit special compared to other stars, and now he is starting to scratch the away. On the other hand, seems he is starting to become more of a vocal leader and fighter. Until we hear more from Wade, I'm not gonna judge. He's having the best season of his career averaging 29/8/5 on 49% shooting, 2SPG, over 1BPG, career high in FT shooting, etc... And ultimately that is all that matters, not what he says off the court.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Justice @ Feb 9 2007, 05:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Eh, Wade is friends with Melo and LeBron. It's to be expected.</div>He also took a shot at Bron today, saying he is not playing with excitement and needs to do that for team to win.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MaRdYC26 @ Feb 9 2007, 05:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>why doesn't wade just shut his trap and worry about his own teams problems.</div>I think he's allowed to say whatever he wants. Last time I checked we had freedom of speech and last time I checked Wade won a title and won finals MVP, and why are other players allowed to be cocky but when wade acts a little cocky theres a big deal.
I did not expect this from Wade. But I assume he was prolly just upset about always hearing how he was lucky for winning the finals...
This doesn't compare to Yao coming out with an attitude this year. Remember "try and f*cking stop me!" But wow, I would have never expected Wade to say something like this and single out a player. He is so damn humble. I'm not making this as big a deal as some of you guys are, Wade is still a good kid and a humble person. I can see why it would make him mad though. Every time Dirk is asked about the Finals lost, he always complains and makes excuses. Call out his free throw attempts, whatever. The fact of the matter is, Miami won 4 games in a row. They played better in that series. That said, I'm very surprised Wade said something like this right now when his team is below .500 and Dallas has the best record in the NBA.
My whole thing is that he takes a shot at Dirk saying he isnt a leader, but if I recall, there was a topic about Wade saying "He's not a leader" or something to that effect. Just kind of hypicritical I think. Anyways, I'm not really worried about these comments and dont think the Mavs are either. Mavs are the best team record wise and argueably talent wise, so I'm pretty content with the team thus far in the season.

He made fun of a few commercials and of things that Wade can't do a damn thing about (things like players being overweight). It is nice to see a owner stick up for his players, though.
