<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Wade stole his way onto last season's NBA All-Defensive second team, and some might say he stole that spot from someone more deserving. Either way, you don't want Wade using himself up at that end as your top defensive dog every night.

I'm going on faith that any overhaul will take that into consideration. After all, Riley loves his D.

Jones might be going in a deal that brings Memphis point guard Jason Williams. Until the Grizzlies surfaced last year, I wasn't sure Williams was still in the league. Then I realized I just wished for the sake of NBA players, coaches and writers that Memphis wasn't in the NBA and Vancouver still was.

Williams would be the solid point guard the Heat doesn't have, a good passer in the open court and half court. If he's healthy, that is. At least it would stop any silly thoughts about possibly moving Wade to the point.

Bringing in forward Antoine Walker would complete a formidable-looking front line. The only way you might not like such a big, multitalented player is you've actually seen him play. At 6-9, 245, Walker often seems dedicated to embodying the oft-quoted movie review line, ``There's much less here than meets the eye.''

He's not as strong inside as he should be, which is fine unless the Heat wants him at the power-forward spot instead of the 6-8 Haslem. ''Capricious'' describes Walker's shot selection.</div>

Wade is a great def. he can defend 1 on 1 and he is special because at his height being a guard he still has the ability to block shots

Wade is a solid defender, but I would have given his spot on the all defensive to Shawn Marion.

Hes the best guard shot blocker in the league right now. other than that I dont think he deserves the defensive first team probably second.

Well he does have a 6'10 wingspan and great leaping ability, so it's like having a 6'10 guard with hops blocking you [like Bender (he's 7 feet though)].

He's not a great defender, but a good one. He's alright man-to-man, above average for a guard I would say, but his strength is as a off ball defender, like LeBron, and picking steals through passing lanes. He doesn't have the energy and off ball quickness through half court though to keep with the Reggie Millers and Rip Hamiltons, like Bowen, Hassell and Eddie Jones have.

Defence is all about shutting down your man. If somebody could provide us with these statistics we would then be able to tell the who's who of defense.
