<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Wade's jersey to be retired By TODD ROSIAKtrosiak@journalsentinel.comPosted: Sept. 28, 2006Marquette Golden Eagles coach Tom Crean said Thursday that the school will honor former star Dwyane Wade this season by retiring his jersey.Wade, now a guard for the National Basketball Association champion Miami Heat and one of the league's brightest young stars, will be honored Feb. 3 at the Bradley Center when MU hosts the Providence Friars."He deserves it," Crean said. "He made such a tremendous impact while he was here and he continues to make an impact not only in the NBA but on the national level. He means a lot to Marquette, and it just makes a lot of sense."MU had retired the jerseys of seven players previously. Crean had said last season that Wade's jersey would be retired when he graduated, but he hasn't yet after leaving for the NBA following his junior year.So MU is granting a special dispensation to the Chicago native, who led them to the NCAA Final Four in 2002-'03."So many things have changed in his life with the way his summers are," Crean said. "Nobody really saw the Olympics coming the way they did at that young an age. We always looked at summertime to be a time he could come back and get it, but that's just not possible now."So the plan is in place for him to work toward his degree over a period of time."From the Sept. 29, 2006 editions of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel</div>I think it's just great. Wade is a phenomenal player and it is always a great honor for a player like him to get his jersey retired by his former college team. He definitely has done a lot for Marquette, for the Heat and for the NBA overall so he definitely deserves all the awards coming his way in the future...
