Eagles won 3 straight titles and that means they are guanteed a home playoff game. Wild card teams always travel on the road sooooooooooo how could the eagles be in the playoffs 4 straight years, Host 2 WC games against the bucs, then have 2 byes and host all their games the first time time they played.? did the rule change? 00-2nd in East, beat TB at the Vet, lost at the Meadowlands 01-Won East, hosted TB, went to Chi. went to St. Louis 02-Bye, host Atlanta, Host TB 03-Bye host??? possible ????
I have no clue what your talking about but the playoffs work like this.... 6 teams seeded from 1-6....1 through 4 are division winners and 5-6 are wild card teams.....you can never host a team with a higher seed than you, so if your a wild card team, your only hope for a home game would be if your the 5th seed and you advance to the conference title game where you meet the other wild card team....if your the #1 seed, you have home field until you lose, and so on...it has nothing to do with what you did previous years...
i know how it works, im simply saying that in '00 the eagles were a WC team and hosted the bucs in the first round, the WILD CARD ROUND. i thought that the 2 WCs teams never play eachother in the first round, even if TB wasnt a WC team that year why would they come to philly to play?
Here was the playoff format before last year. There were 3 division winners which I'll label them #1, #2 and #3. Next there were 3 wildcard teams which I'll label #4, #5 and #6. In the wildcard first round playoffs: #1 and #2 division winners have a bye week with #1 division winner having home field advantage. #3 division winner hosts #6 wildcard team. #4 wildcard team hosts #5 wildcard team. In the divisional second round playoffs: #1 division winner hosts lowest wildcard team, they will never host a #3 division winner in second round. #2 division winner will host either #3 division winner or next lowest wildcard team. In the Conference Championship round. More than likely the highest division winner will host this game. If by chance two wildcard teams are playing for title the highest seed will host the game.
Thats right, the new playoff format is only in its 2nd year, one wild card team used to host a 1st round game
Thats what i thought, i was wondering what the format prior to this season was and when it changed. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>TheBeef wrote: Thats right, the new playoff format is only in its 2nd year, one wild card team used to host a 1st round game </div>
