As the season progresses, fantasy owners must come to the dramatic realization that some of the players on their roster just aren't pulling their wieght. Since everyone's team can't be solid gold, there's always a stud in the waiting on "the wire"

    Week 2

QB- Trent Dilfer could be a small gem for those of us who haven't solidified the QB position yet. You might not want to start him this week, but he could be a spot start contributor in later weeks. Weeks 7 - 9 dilfer squares up against Detroit, Houston, and Tennessee.

RB - Derrick Blaylock could be an excellent pick up with C.Martin having knee problems... The knee might not be a huge deal, but if it is Blaylock stands to do very well in Martin's absence. You might be ahead of the curve if you pick him up this week or next.

Marcell Shipp is a popular wire pick up right now as he started in place of Arrington last week, but I happen to know for fact that the only reason J.J. didn't start was becasue of a stomach virus that prevented him from practicing all of last week. Shipp will be good for a spot start this week and this week only.

WR - T.J. Houshmandzedah is one of my favorite pick up this week. He is starting to look like the Bengals version of Reggie Wayne, only faster. The Bengals like to use T.J. in a variety of sets and situations. He will definately be on the field plenty and with the Bengals flying high you might be able to land quality WR2 with this guy.

Marcus Robinson will be good this week!!! I know this doesn't sound like a good pick up right now, but I've got to believe that Culpepper will get it together soon and what better team to begin a big bounce back than the Saints. With Nate Burleson likely out and Troy Williamson probably still not ready to go, Robinson is going to have a great day this Sunday. Minnesota will win this one at home and if you can, pick up Robinson and start him for this week only... you can thank me later. [IMG]

Good luck to all in week 2!!

I would like to think Houshmandzedah was drafted(mid-late rounds) in most leagues already.

Blaylock is an intriguing option. I'll have to see if he's available in my league.

If you want a sleeper receiver on Minnesota, don't pick up Robinson, look for Travis Taylor. He is the projected #1 receiver this week for Minnesota and is a better route runner than Robinson. Since Culpepper has been having troubles, I'm sure the offense will try to be a rythm offense preferring short passes and outside runs to establish a good rythm and give the defense a little bit of a breather.

Double T is the man this week in Minny (unless Koren Robinson makes a big splash).

TJ was drafted in every league I'm in and after the way played last season was an obvious second/third receiver on any fantasy team. As for Dilfer he is starting to draw some interest but I need to see him have another good week throwing the ball before I jump on him...Marcus Robinson was also a late round draft pick in my big money league and Blaylock was on the bench of someone in all of leagues as well...RB's just aren't picked up in my money leagues..unless they are a third stringer like Willie Parker and I just happen to land him :-) Travis taylor was also picked up already in my leagues...and I was just going to mention Koren Robinson but VF beat me to it. .

I agree, Taylor will be the focus of the passing game. (If there is any...) I wouldnt count on anyone on that offense putting up good numbers though, I think the Saints have a lot of heart this year and will be determined to win.

I have to disagree with just about all those players for waiver pickups. Unless your in some serious trouble.

Trent Dilfer had a nice showing last week against the PACKERS Defense. Who have all kinds of problems in the secondary. Maybe in a 14 or 16 team league he would be a good pickup for a backup but in a 12 team league. I wouldn't take him.

I like Derrick Blaylock as a saftey option if you have Curtis Martin but Martin is a tough player and should be the guy to start this Sunday. Even so I agree if you have Martin maybe consider picking up Blaylock.

Marcell Shipp is another one I am not a huge fan of. Why if your planning on starting a Cardinals RB then your in trouble. Arrington was sick last week like you mentioned but should be ok to go. Shipp will probably start but he doesn't appear to be the guy in Arizona. I would have to say he's a 4th RB at best on most fantasy teams unless you screwed up your draft that bad.

T.J. should be picked up in most leagues. If not then jump all over him. I drafted him myselft in 2 of my leagues and he's been a reserved for now. He's a great #3 WR right now and could turn into a solid #2 by seasons end. If he's on the wire then yea of course pick him up but like someone said he shouldn't be on the wire.

Marcus Robinson is probably going to be the #3 or #4 in Minnesota this Sunday. Travis Taylor like VF said is the #1 guy most likely this Sunday because of Burleson's injury. Also Troy Williamson appears to be the #2 and Koren Robinson appears to see his first action. So Robinson should be left on all waiver wires unless he does show something then get on it.
