"The rookie nerves got to John Wall on the first shot attempt of his first NBA preseason game, as he missed everything with an airball. But that was it. With the jitters out of the way, Wall took the reins and set the tone, finishing with 21 points, 9 assists and 4 steals as the Wizards claimed a 97-94 preseason victory on the road at the Dallas Mavericks. Washington led by double-digits for much of the game but needed a Lester Hudson 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds remaining to eke out the win. Playing a team-high 38 minutes, Wall put his speed on the fast break and in the lane on display, as well as his defensive instincts and his summer league chemistry with JaVale McGee. Wall fed the Wizards center from just inside half court for an alley-oop during a third quarter in which the rookie had 10 points and 5 assists. McGee also had an impressive preseason debut with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks." Read more: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/sports/nba/Wall_-Wizards-win-in-opener-1125482-104391403.html
