If we do manage to resign Hassell, which I hope we do, who will be the starter? The Sonics have shown interest in Hudson and Hassell, Hudson of course is now not available, but we have yet to sign Hassell. If we do get him back, will he keep the starting spot?

My opinion, we keep Hassell at the SF spot as the starter. His perimeter defense is just amazing and he shut down some big time players last season. He basically did all of his work when Wally was injured. When Wally came back, of course Hassell's minutes and numbers went down. I think I'd like to see Wally come off the bench as a spark and hit shots for us and we keep Hassell in the front line with KG and Ervin. But first, I just hope we resign him.

    Opinions?

    I have opinions

Well i think Hassel has done agreat job during his stay with the timberwolves orginization.

i mean as you said above his defense is incredible( defense wins championships { Pistons} along with team work).

And also i really like Wally coming off the bench going at those second stringers i believe that really gave you timberwolves more depth and i just think wally was amazing coming off the bench last year.

He really impressed me i never knew he had that much emotion. He looked like a minnie me version of Kevin Garnett at times to me.

When you speak of depth, I feel we were one of the deepest teams last year. We had out starters, KG, Sam, Spree, EJ, and Hassell. Then we also had Kandi, Madsen, Trent, Hoiberg, Martin, etc. If you add a healthy Hudson and Wally in there, I feel it makes us into one of the deepest teams in the league, if not deepest. That's one thing I really enjoy abut the T-Wolves, it's our depth that we have. The role players did what they needed to. They didn't have to be effective in scoring, but just do the things they need to do to win and they did just that. That's why I enjoyed watching the games last year.

Now hopefully this year, we resign Hoiberg and Hassell and we have our full team back and hopefully we can make it to the NBA finals, and finally win a championship.

Hassell should start, we have enough weapons in the starting lineup already that we don't need Wally there as much as we need him coming off the bench. And if Hassell came off the bench his playing time would not overlap the playing time of the best players on the other team so his insane defense would be wasted. Wally can hit his shots against anyone anytime, Hassell is most effective on the best SF-PG on the other team.

I disagree. I don't know what the starting lineup will be for next season but if we take last season's starting lineup, we would only have Sam, KG and Spree who would be scoring threats and that was a problem at times. Trenton will hit some open shots but it wouldn't be enough. That was why when Wally came back, Hassell started to have less playing time because we needed a scoring threat.

But I do agree like everyone else, that Hassell should start. He has been starting for the majority of last season and he did a great job. He might see less playing time with Wally healthy but he should get his share of minutes. Wally would be a great spark off the bench and would be able to help on the offensive end when needed.

The Wolves better make sure they keep Hassell,he now has been generating alot of interest around the league from teams like Portland, Denver & Seattle. If the Wolves lose Hassell thats a major blow because Spree cant guard the top wing players for long periods of time anymore. And Wally isnt a defensive player. And with the wolves having to play Kobe, T-Mac, Camelo, probably Ray Allen a total of 16 times this year, I can easily see the loss of Hassell lockdown defense costing the wolves a top seed in the playoffs.

Just for the record, do you think Wally will willingly want to come off the bench this year? We all no he won't. He was once the #2 guy and I don't think he wants people to forget that. I remember reading earlier this year a quote saying he doesn't mind coming off the bench this year, but next year will be different. I think a lot of that goes along with Wally's mentality meaning he was the go to guy in college and he pretty much was always that. I think he derserves to start and he would have last year except for some unfortunate events. My personal opinion was that the plantar fascitis was a left over side effect from the stupid tram doctors putting a metal insert in his show when he dislocated his toe. By the way, the metal thing wasn't too good for the knees either...
