Talks broke down because Wolves ownership didn't want to take on about $3 million in future payroll (double with the luxury tax).

Szczerbiak spends the offseason at his new house in Cold Spring Harbor and his wife prefers New York.

"If I'm going to go, that's the only place I would want to go," Szczerbiak told a Minnesota writer. "I love it here, we have a chance to win a title, but New York always raises my eyebrows because that's home, and it will always be nice to have one house and settle the family."

I am sick and tired of Wally. I like him as a player, but if he wants to be in New York I say let him go. If we get Kurt Thomas, we have a better starting five, and still a great bench.

Starting Five
PG- Cassell
SG- Sprewell
SF- Hassell
PF- Garnett
C- Thomas

Bench
Hudson
Hoiberg
Griffen
Madsen
Johnson
Kandi

To me that makes our team better overall.

Well Wally from the area, so I cant be mad at him for wanting to play for the knicks, especially sine everybody keeps talking about him being shipped to New York. I think that he would have a legit chance at getting the starting SF job over tim thomas, if he was to land in NY. I say this only because if the Knicks are going to go with a starting Backcourt of Marbury & Crawford then Wally's spot shooting at the 3 would be a very nice fit & compliment to them in the starting lineup. And then the Knicks could bring Allan Houston & Tim Thomas off the bench at the 2-guard & 3 spot respectfully, giving them a strong compliment of perimeter players. But with that being said if Iam the Knicks no way do I trade my starting Powerforward, who can bring close to a double-double every night, for a perimeter player.

As far as the Wolves go I would do the deal only, if its the right deal for the team, meaning that I would not take Moochie Norris' bad contract as the other player, just to get KT. The Knicks are gonna have to come up with a stronger option to make the deal work under the car since Wally for KT doesnt work straight up.
