The celtics traded walter mccarty to the suns, and in return the suns give cash and a conditional second round draft pick source is http://www.insidehoops.com the news box
ESPN has also confirmed it's done. I admit never liking Waltah in big minute situations, but as a short time spark plug, he could energize anyteam, IMO. Thanks and Best Wishes Waltah'.
Yeah, it's on Celtics.com as well, so its official (finally) Is anyone making sure that Tommy Heisohn has a black arm band for tonight's game? I liked this deal for the C's. It was time for walter to move on and this'll give the celtics a little more roster flexability down the stretch.
Don't ask me why I just thought of this: I Love Waltah'! - R.I.P. (Running In Phoenix)
It's a shame that the Suns have already played the Celtics in Boston. There's still one more meeting in Phoenix though. Be interesting to hear Tommy on that night.
Just more shooting and fire power for the Suns. Walter is capable of knocking down the 3, even trade IMO.

Quote:

Walter McCarty Farewell Letter to Fans February 8, 2005 Dear Celtics Fans: I would like to take this opportunity to send a sincere thank you to each and every one of you for your support during my eight and a half seasons with the Boston Celtics. Although I am moving on to a new team, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the fans that I consider to be the best in the NBA. I hope you understand that this decision was made after considerable thought and necessary at this stage in my career. Nonetheless, it was not reached without mixed emotions, including sadness. Every time you called out my name out during a game, or asked for an autograph, it made me feel as if I were a special part of this city. It also made me work harder on your behalf both on and off the court. My involvement with the Boston community has been an experience I will always cherish. I cannot thank you enough for your support of my ?I Love Music Foundation,? as well as the several community initiatives in which I have been involved through the Celtics. You truly welcomed me and my former teammates and me into your lives with open arms. Although I am moving on to Phoenix, I will continue to be involved in the Boston community with my foundation, including hosting my ?I Love Music Foundation? Concert in this area. Again, thank you for being instrumental in shaping my experience in this great city of Boston and your support of me and my family. Although I am looking forward to this new opportunity, I hope you realize that you will always hold a special place in my heart. With warmest regards, Walter McCarty
Link
Walter: class act. im gonna miss him but its for the best even though we got NOtHING in return for him. hope he goes and gets himself a ring
Walter will prove to be a valuable pick up for The Suns. His ability to sink the three point shot as a fastbreak capable power foward could be a deadly weapon off the bench for Phoenix. I can see problems arising when Phoenix, lead by Steve Nash, run a defense down the floor on the fastbreak. The opposing Power Foward is usually going to run to the paint and stop, turning to defend the basket and wait for his match up to follow. However with McCarty that isn't an option, you must follow him out towards the 3-Point line and respect his range. This will be a nice luxury for Phoenix, it opens up more driving lanes for Amare, Marion, Richardson, Johnson, and Nash with one less shot blocker in the low post to worry about. ALL THANKS TO WALTAHHHHHHHH!
Man the celtics fans will miss this guy. I just love seeing him play. he is a good player. Suns made a good deal.
I don't know what's more pathetic. The fact that he was traded for nothing, or the fact that we had to give the Suns money in order to take him for nothing. I love Walta!
