I heard it was mentioned on TNT how Charlie Ward decided he'll sign with the Spurs... Can anyone confirm this? I thought he'd be a great fit on the Rockets

It looks like Ward is officially going to the Spurs. This is a real biter for the Rockets as we could have used him tremendously. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ward's agent, Craig McKenzie, said early Thursday evening the point guard was still considering Houston and New Jersey. But officials from both the Rockets and the Nets said they expected Ward to sign with the Spurs. Ward is expected to sign a one-year, $1 million contract. The minimum-salary contract will be pro-rated for the rest of the season, after which Ward can become a free agent. Unlike the Spurs, the Nets and Rockets have a $1.5 million salary-cap exception they can spend. New Jersey, however, appeared unwilling Thursday to increase its offer above the league minimum. Though it was unclear whether Houston offered its exception, Ward told friends he wanted to sign with the Spurs because they gave him the best chance to win a championship. </div> San Antonio Express - News
Yeah more offense, maybe you guys can get your hands on Olokowandi, Wally and Hudson, they'd great add both ways. Meaning defense and offense from Olokowandi and Hudson and some decent offense from Wally. It'd work great for your team as backups, if not starters.

Yes they are avaliable but I think the Rockets will find it hard to get them. Maybe we can trade Mo Taylor, Jim Jackson and Bostjan Nachbar for Hudson and Szcerbiak?

Mo Taylor and Jim Jackson are playing fantastic this year. Plus, Mo would be totally wasted on the Wolves roster. There is no way a trade between Minnesota and Houston will happen. franchise3, to answer your question, I think we should get Mark Jackson. I have no idea why we have not signed him yet. Jeff Van Gundy must be highly impressed with Mike Wilks enough to make him Francis's back-up. Jeff Van Gundy plays Francis 40 minutes a game so its not like Mike Wilks is getting a lot of minutes.
I read on another thread that the Rockets woud have to talk Jackson out of retirement. Also, are you saying that the Rockets do not need a point guard? I'd like to have some insurance at point guard in case Francis goes down.

I would like to have a Mark Jackson type back-up just incase Francis gets in foul trouble or what not. I was just stating the minutes situation above. If Francis goes down we are honestly screwed, but the same thing could be said if any major team loses their star player.
